YES MATE. Not tuning in live this year but watching it with pals on the evening of the 4th, am about to explode my trousers.

Watched it live last year. Some of it was quite silly and cringey but the top matches on the card were fantastic. Looks even better this time around!

WK9 was possibly one of the greatest PPVs of all time, reviewed it on this thread....can see how it might be silly if you just watch the big events but some of the daft stuff is ingrained in the Japanese psyche. There's a promotion called DDT which specialises in only this type of match and is probably my second favourite promotion on the planet right now after NJPW

Anyway , quick run thru the card to remind myself

Tanahashi v Okada. Cannot wait. A stadium sized match between two guys made to work each other.

AJ v Nakamura. So glad they held off on this. It feels like such a huge deal. Can't see who goes over either!

Shibata v Ishii. Probable MOTN for me. Hyped doesn't cover it. Shibata's elevation begins, I hope!

Naito v Goto. A year ago I'd have laughed, now I am really down for this. Naito in 2015 was so cool, best new gimmick in the game.

GBH v Bullet Club. Feelgood moment for the fans and will probably be a rock solid match.

Omega v KUSHIDA. Could be a showstealer if Kenny can knock the shenanigans on the head.

Elgin v Lethal. Unwise move, the casuals won't know Lethal and will barely know Elgin. Could be good though.

6 man tag (for the belt!): LOL the idea of Yano and the Briscoes with a title is so funny to me and yet it is completely stupid.

4-way tag: great line up, the best for the traditional opener yet. Hope Ricochet/Sydal win, but would like to see more Japanese guys in the mix next year.

RAMBO: hope a Young Lion wins, but I can see EVIL winning it.

Lethal has been insanely underrated for a long time.

I agree with Christophe here. Lethal and Elgin are capable of a cracker, but who's going to give a shit? A show like this would have been a good place to showcase Elgin. I thought he had some cracking showings in the G1 and that NJPW could really use him.

Good programme - interesting how many clips they showed of ICW guys getting their balls out for top rope teabags though.

RIGHT

Rumble: I was laughing my heid aff all the way through, it's absolutely shite, they have no idea how to work Battle Royals and that's half the charm. Jado booking himself to hang out with a sexy popstar AND win was hilarious.

4-way tag: best version of this at the Dome thus far, it was really crisp and fluid and I was well entertained. ***3/4

Six-man tag: good intro for the Briscoes, Yano was funny, it's all it needed. Bullet Club, Tonga aside, are complete crud. **

ROH title: fine match but as expected the crowd only cared about Elgin which made it i. seem one-sided and ii. seem like Lethal won out of nothing. **1/2

Kenny v KUSHIDA: well into this actually, great knees from Kenny and all-around stuff from KUSHIDA. Can see why they didn't put KUSHIDA properly over if Kenny has gone heavyweight today but would have been nice to fully push KUSHIDA as the junior ace. ****

GBH v Bullet Club: pretty solidly good match but not mindblowing, good story and I think GBH will be good tag champs going forward, much better than BC. ***1/2

Goto v Naito: shenanigan count across the card harmed this one a little but once it got moving it was pretty good. NO IDEA why they didn't put Naito over. ***1/2

Ishii v Shibata: unbelievable. Murder in Tokyo. ****3/4

AJ v Nakamura: just because of the lack of story it gets a notch below the Ibushi match from a year ago, but in essence it was in that league. ****3/4

Tanahashi v Okada: as good as it gets in terms of story and main event style pro wrestling. I honestly believe Tanahashi is underrated, particularly in the west. *****
