Need to send my laptop back to have one of the hard drives replaced as seemingly there is a fault (although I've not noticed any issues other than a Windows prompt). What's the best way to back-up the two hard drives to ensure I can copy everything back on once I get the laptop back?

I have a 500GB external hard drive so was planning to use that to copy stuff too. In the past I've used Seagate's Disc Wizard to make images of hard drives which can be mounted - handy for transferring stuff to a new PC. However, when I use the "clone disc" option it wants to delete all of the partitions on the external hard drive - not much use as I have stuff on it and if it asks me to do that for the second hard drive it'll surely wipe the back up for the first one!

Help/advice/insults appreciated :)

Its probably going to be easier manually copying over folders you want to keep, to be honest.

You might also want to look at some online options. I've used Carbonite in the past and its really easy to use but its not free.

Mates laptop has frozen and it's showing a scam message to allegedly phone Microsoft. It's headed......RDN/Trojan.worm!055BCCAC9FEC Infection.

What would be the easiest idiot proof way of getting rid?

If you cant restore, google the error and you'll find a removal tool. Just make sure you download it from a reputable site though

Got a pair of Skull Candy Hesh headphones recently, they have a replaceable cable, I had a pair in the past and they had a microphone (may have been Hesh 2 now I think of it)

Can i just buy one of these cables with a mic and use it as so? I presume yes.

If so anyone know where I can pick one up in Glasgow?

Looking for some help on how to go about blocking ads on my android phone. It's running Marshmallow 6.0. I got a new phone on Friday so I've been downloading new apps onto it from the Google store. Yesterday I downloaded a few apps and since then I'm getting nuisance ads opening up full screen size. Everytime I open up an app there's an ad. During games an ad will appear. It's now even appearing when I turn my phone on in the home screen. I've tried deleting the apps I downloaded yesterday but the ads still remain. Also tried a couple of ad blockers (Adfree & Adblock plus) but they didn't block the ads I'm getting so I've deleted them. Any suggestions?

Now when I switch my phone on my web browser(Chrome) automatically opens up with this address iltutep.website/ZjBiNDZIY210YmM10WRIM2UxM but the screen is blank. I'm now beginning to think it's a virus. Switched phone on and off, again same thing, browser opens up, except with a different web address this time androidtraffic.ru/in/link_all/ , again the screen is blank. WTF is going on?

Edit-Now getting directed to porn at error.reporo.com

if you think any of the apps you got from playstore caused it fire off a complaint to google, tell them whats going on incase its a rogue app, tell them you need to put your phone back into a shop, cost of repairs etc etc, might get a couple of quid play store credit etc off them

as for the virus, try an app called CM Security, it has a part you can scan your files and it scans everything including sd card, might find the problem lies in that, i did this recently and found 3 trojans on my phone how the f**k they got thee i'll never know

Yeah, might have to do that. Pain in the arse having to start from scratch again but I'm running out of options..

Go through your installed apps and uninstall anything you dont recognise. If its a system file then you will get a warning so just leave those ones.

It must be associated with one of the apps I downloaded yesterday. I've deleted them all but the ads still keep popping up. Also getting my browser opening itself up with different websites but my browser is blocking access. Used an app called stubborn trojan killer and it found nothing. Adblock plus seems to be the most recommended for unroofed phones. I've downloaded the app but you need to change the proxy settings manually on your WiFi. I've tried to follow the steps how to do that. There's an advanced settings box it ask you to tick but the settings box is not there on my phone. I've posted on their forum for help so waiting for a response. I'll give that CM Security a try in the meantime. Cheers!

Had a look but apart from the preloaded apps that came with the phone, nothing looks suspicious. Its got to have came from an app I downloaded yesterday.

ok, next thing to do would be to install an app called NoRoot Firewall, it will tell you what apps are asking for internet access, you can set it to deny all internet access, then allow each app as and when they try to go online.

I just done a factory reset a couple of minutes ago, so hopefully they are gone. I tried all sorts of Ad blockers, internet security apps, Malware detectors and they never got to the root of the problem, so gave up and decided to reset. The pop-up ads were to download apps on the Google play store, games, Amazon etc. I'm just going to download one app a day from the playstore, that way I'll know which app was the culprit if the ads start again. Thanks for the help!

I think this is probably been the root of my problems on the Google Play; http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/android-malware-discovered-google-play-store-1553341

I accidently clicked on one of the pop-up ads and I got the message saying my battery had been damaged by overheating, then it directed me to download an app to fix it before a timer ran down. That's mentioned in that article.
