sonsism
I know pretty much f**k all about hip hop (apart from Kanye, Drake, Kendrick etc) but I've fallen in love with Chance The Rapper since hearing Ultralight Beam when TLOP dropped. Coloring Book looks set to be my AOTY. Some absolute gems on it. He's announcing European dates this week so hopefully there's a wee Scotland show scheduled somewhere..

50/50 Winner
Haven't watched that video he's made some good productions. I came across him on Bandcamp last night and there's a free download of his recent EP which I'm listening to now and it's exactly the style I enjoy. The guy's got talent, here's the EP -

Shandon Par
Old codger alert.. I remember getting this album from the hip hop record shop opposite the fire station in Dunfermline. The guys always had a good recommendation and had a belter of a sound system in the shop. Stuff on vinyl sounded so crisp.
Shandon Par
And something more up to date, and summery. Proper instruments and that soulful LA sound you can trace back through decades of LA hip hop and soul...

I'm not a big fan of how so many of the songs go off on a tangent (looking at you too Kendrick and Kanye). I think these guys would benefit from a strong producer to just get them telt and not have skits in the middle, end or beginning of songs or stuff like that.

I'm not that big on the Kendrick albums either. Kanye West is just a shite rapper imo.

Boostin' Kev
Essential viewing if you haven't seen it. Some great time capsule footage from New School to Golden Age. Edited July 11, 2016 by Pete Rockwell
