Lisa Cuddy
The latter just goes to show that it's a myth that solicitors are well paid. You and I obviously have a very different idea of what constitutes "well paid". I could quite happily and easily live on £34k a year and be the sole earner in the family. -

barrysnotter
Good idea Tryfield. I'm sure P&B could get more people back into work than the Job Centre ever will.

Whilst that's undoubtedly true, particularly if you were based in Ayrshire I'd guess, he has a point that it goes some way to dispelling the notion that a qualified solicitor automatically earns a high five figure salary. In fact outside major city firms that will only be true of partners in independent firms most likely. There are plenty of non-graduate employments that will see people earning as much as these solicitor jobs. I know lorry drivers who can pull in that sort of money.
ICTChris
. I know lorry drivers who can pull in that sort of money. You'd have to hump a shitload of illegal immigrants over from Calais to get that much cash though.

Genuine question, do you get discount on the food? * Got a job lined up for the summer, but I'm looking to get one before next semester at Uni starts. *I should point out your answer isn't a factor on whether I decide to apply to work at McDonald's Edited December 5, 2011 by Just a bairn

It's often suggested that lawyers earn buckets compared to other professions when it's not really true. For instance a teacher with 8 years' experience will be earning the same as that solicitor post. A head-teacher could be earning as much as twice that. You could earn more as a nursing home manager in Ayrshire.
ICTChris
I saw a job advertised today doing something pretty similar to what I do now at £265 a DAY. If I was getting redundant'd this week I'd be all over that like cheese sauce.

How long does it take a nurse to become a home manager?

Lisa Cuddy
Do Nurse Practioners not earn around £35K a year? Private practice, yes. NHS, it would take a few years to get up to that. That said, there's also additional training involved to go from Nurse to Nurse Practitioner.

You get a free meal every day for your break as well, they're pretty good to their staff to be honest. Plus it's got to be the easiest job ever.
