Aye, cutting down on the players wages will solve the problem of the board squandering over £70 in 18 months.

P.S are you Graham Wallace?

Seventy quid, you say? Fúck me, it's like the days before the credit crunch!

They must have been throwing ten-bob bits around like sailors on shore leave - I suppose the madness had to end somewhere, eh?

So McCoist says that his playing budget will probably be similar to this season.

Seriously, it it's part of the reason why rangers spending isn't sustainable why wouldn't they cut it.

I'm sure rangers fans would take a weakened side if it means stabilising the club.

Plus ally can use his tactical nous to pick up wins. Ok that part was a joke.

Rangers fans accepting a weakened side?:lol::lol::lol::lol:

A question occurs to me, that may have already been answered: does the Castlemilk-born convicted tax evader’s season ticket Trust Company have a Credit/Debit Card backer?

Also, was this linked to already?

its always results driven and it would require an experienced manager who knows what he is doing to achieve the championship title with a weakened side.

but from what i heard over the last couple of days priority is on maintaining and improving the current squad rather than reducing and weakening it.

if there's going to be cuts it won't be among the management team or players though some of the players will have to leave to make room for some new faces.

Whilst an argument for an experienced manager might hold some weight it's not actually what wins you the league in the 1st division/championship. Next year will be mccoist's 4th full season as a manager, only 2 years out of the last 10 has the winning manager had more than that, with most of the 8 not having nearly the same amount of coaching experience as mccoist's before taking on the job, and none of them had anywhere near the financial advantage over their opponents that mccoist will have even with a reduced budget.

Even ignoring that , you don't set budgets on what you need to spend to go up, you set them on what you can afford and see where that gets you.

Looks like the Sunday Mail has a story of Wallace being investigated by the police after being reported by an investor.

Chatter and screen shot of Mail cover on the rangers media forum, can't paste link (sadly) as it is in the protected boardroom section.

Wallace left his phone on the table whilst he went for a pish, when we were in the Lodge for pint together on Thursday. How else?

Hiya Bing(2)! I see Bing(1) is online but I still can't find him in 'members'. Nor can I 'mouse over' his name to get info. Is this a Lodge thing? ;)

Ra Bears are taking their stock position on the Wallace allegations, in that they believe it must be a stitch up! lol I wonder what it will take for them to think the people at their club are not to be trusted and it might just be their fault.

Got text from the story:

A police probe has been launched after Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace was accused of misleading shareholders over the club’s finances.
Banker Phil Maher, an Ibrox shareholder, complained about comments made by Wallace at the club’s annual general meeting in December.
He claims Wallace insisted the club had enough funds in place to operate until May – but the board took out a £1.5million emergency loan two months later.

Police Scotland are now looking into whether the Companies Act has been breached. Rangers yesterday said his
complaint “has no grounds”.

Yesterday, Glaswegian Maher, who is managing director of the investments arm of a multinational bank, said: “I can confirm I have made a complaint that is being investigated by police.

“As a shareholder and lifelong Rangers fan, I’m appalled at the financial mismanagement we continue to witness and extremely disappointed that I have felt the need to take this course of action.”

Many of the club’s officials were booed and jeered at the AGM, which was held in the open air at Ibrox on December 19 and attended by almost 2000 shareholders.

Finance director Brian Stockbridge bore the brunt of fan fury for presiding over losses of £14.3million while taking a salary and bonus package of about £400,000.

Stockbridge, who left the club the next month, was booed every time he spoke.

Nothing to see here, yet another non story.

Good luck with that case.

For a start Wallace had only been in post for about a month. It will be incredibly difficult to prove that he deliberately deceived shareholders with what he said only a month after coming into post at the AGM.

If nothing else he can use the Fat Sally defense of '(barely) plausible deniability'.

In fact maybe he could ask Fat Sally for a few pointers, after all, he is a slimy-twa-faced genius of the teflon-art.

Yours

£20 million of that £70 million was on the playing side (over 18 months), or around £13 million a season, thats unbeleavable
