The joint bun statement I got emailed (as a devoted poster on follow follow) is hilarious...

All "watp" and bluster, ending with "no option but review our options"

You just have to love the first comment. I hope Dave King buys chuckles' shares  Dignity personified right there. Also good stuff from the Union Bears (who?). We dont want chuckles back at any cost. Guilty until proven innocent. Fuckin fannies.

Political slogans have no place at any normal sporting occasion.

I really don't know where to start with this tripe.

Take both of these together.......

Less than a hundred years ago, the football stadium was the ONLY place one could gather in numbers for some people.

Might not like the buns attitude, but they have a right to be 'political' at a football stadium.

Absolute nonsense, Wunf. Church halls, village halls, public parks, town centre squares... All used for organised political gatherings.

I'm glad of the quotes on 'political', mind - if you think your wee parochial squabble has anything to do with politics, then you're clearly as deluded as your blue counterparts.

You can't get 40,50,60,70 thousand in a church hall though......and if in an open area they usually were told to disperse under the Riot Act.

The only political gatherings of that size tended to be at places like Nuremberg. Gatherings of like-minded folk took place, and have always taken place, in a variety of venues, football stadia being one. To suggest that football matches are political events is one hell of a reach - the vast majority of attendees would be there to, er, watch the football. Unless you reckon Kier Hardie came to his Socialist maturity while watching Hamilton grinding out a 0-0 draw against Falkirk, of course.

As for the regular forced oppression of those who challenge the current political powers - I think you'll find that many of us in the TU movement continue to do so to this day, despite the Executive and Judiciary colluding in an ongoing attempt to silence us - with no regard to a person's age, nationality, colour, gender or sexual orientation, never mind what school they went to. Unlawful Assembly is one of their preferred methods of control, but Contempt of Court is the current favourite in my Union's case. Riot Act? pfft!

Hmmm, well why did the RIC waltz into Croke Park in 'one' of the earlier Bloody Sundays and let rip at the crowd ? Cos they were there to watch the (gaelic) footie? No because of their implied politics.

The wide-o Cairo Gang had been killed earlier that day and the RIC took a political revenge. At a football ground.

At a sporting event. Why had all those people gathered together? To sing the Internationale? Or to watch a sporting event? You might as well say that people working in Banking and Insurance are political because the WTC was the target on 9/11. Or that being Jewish was political, therefore causing the Holocaust. Yeah, I know, Godwin and all that. But fuxake, look outside your selective historical tunnel vision and stop making a twat of yourself.

And weren't wars started at/over footie matches in el Salvador and Bosnia ?

If you believe the 1969 El Salvador/Honduras conflict (or "war" if you can dignify a four-day conflict with the name) started over a football match, then you really do need to do a bit more research - and to suggest the Bosnian conflict had anything to do with football is just fucking mental. Unless you want to start throwing up the names of all those nasty bigoted Eastern European teams that your mob and the blue crew learn off by heart to gain your "International Whataboutery" badges. Which is no more or less than I would expect, given your last few posts.

A Soldiers Song maybe...... and selective? That's why I mentioned 2 wars that have started at football .

Arkan wasn't a football fan then ?

Ffs, wrk, this isn't "dim and distant past" stuff. My parents were 'just' about there for Croke Park, and the other two are less than 30 years ago.

I would never countenance what the buns sing, I would defend their right to sing it. Might chuck a bottle or two though :)

Sorry but i have to take issue with you on this. Not one person has the right to be political or try and enforce their politics on others at any sporting event. It's sport ffs and everything else should be left aside at any sporting venue.

1. Hitler was rumoured to be a vegetarian. Should we be wary of Militant Vegans? Kim Jong-Il was a massive film buff - is Netflix therefore the acceptable face of Communism?

2. The "100 hours" conflict took place in 1969 - 44 was bigger than 30 when I was at school.

Tell me their names, then. Because that's a pretty vague criteria there, considering you only have to win SFL3 to be the most successful team in the world....
