Monkey Tennis
Appears there`s momentum gathering for a protest at Ibrox this evening. I think they should definitely do that. Such protests have always paid dividends thus far.

AberdeenBud
Armageddon; Rangers chairman Walter Smith quits club amid Ibrox turmoil By Mike Farrell 5 August 2013 16:05 BST Rangers chairman Walter Smith has left his role amid ongoing turmoil at Ibrox. The former manager took on the role in the boardroom earlier this year after Malcolm Murray left the position and called for "transparency" over the situation at the club. In a statement to the London Stock Exchange on Monday, the departure of Mr Smith was confirmed. The 65-year-old stood down after last week Rangers announced that former chief executive Charles Green had been appointed as a paid consultant to the club. In a statement to the stock exchange, Rangers said: "Rangers announces that Walter Smith has today resigned from his position as chairman and a director of the company with immediate effect." On Friday, a move by shareholders to remove current chief Craig Mather, as well as Mr Green’s associates Brian Stockbridge and Bryan Smart from the board to be replaced by Paul Murray and Frank Blin, was also announced to the stock exchange. The move to requisition a general meeting to appoint former Rangers bidder Mr Murray and Mr Blin was criticised by Mr Mather, while it requires the support of 51% of votes cast by shareholders in Rangers International Football Club plc. Mr Green's return as a consultant on "capital structure" was accompanied by an interview to a national newspaper, in which he insisted that questions should be asked of manager Ally McCoist should Rangers fail to win one of two major cups they are competing in this season. On Saturday, Rangers crashed out of the Scottish League Cup to Forfar Athletic, before Mr McCoist branded Mr Green an "embarrassment" to the club over his latest comments. Mr Smith was appointed chairman of Rangers in May this year after the departure of Mr Murray as part of a power struggle with associates of Mr Green. The former manager had been made a non-executive director of Rangers in November last year, the month before Rangers International Football Club plc was floated on the stock exchange. At the time he said he would work to ensure Rangers "rises again". This came months after he had been involved in a bid to buy the club's assets, which rivaled that of Mr Green's group which acquired them in a £5.5m deal after administrators Duff and Phelps failed to agree a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) with the creditors of the oldco. Last June, after his group's bid for Rangers' assets had failed, Mr Smith raised concerns over the backers of the Sevco consortium, while he also stated: "We wish the new Rangers Football Club every good fortune." Guest
They'll never have better opportunity to rid themselves of the 'Fringe' than last year. Sadly this wasn't taken. Celtic are equally guilty in their pandering towards the abhorrent and illiterate Green Brigade. Sent from my C5303 using Pie & Bovril mobile app Aye, I suppose that's why they've closed the Green Brigade section.

Monkey Tennis
Do you think this is Smith really finished with Rangers this time or has he just switched camp again? Surely there's a limit to how many times he can be wheeled out to lend credence to whichever chancer was most recently able to grab the wheel.
AberdeenBud
Aye, I suppose that's why they've closed the Green Brigade section. Sure it wasn't another final, final, final, final, final, last ever, we really mean it this time, final warning?

Monkey Tennis
Reckon he'll be back if the McColl/Murray faction gain control. Possibly dasodaha. You wonder if he can keep jumping sides in this way and retain the credibility that he's basically there to provide, though. Welcome to the board by the way.
