Big Rangers Administration/Liquidation Thread - All chat here!

If the story is accurate, it appears that existing small stake shareholders are attempting to manoeuvre into places on the board whilst at the same time not excessively committing themselves individually.

Question now is... Do the existing board agree to this and allow their cabal to be intruded into by two, possibly dissenting, voices or kick it into the long grass and .... Well, and what indeed ?

The offer falls, quite intentionally short of the pronounced requirement of 8.5 million needed so there could well be another Ashley-type loan required unless cost cutting has already been calculated to achieve that.

Rangers fans will no doubt see this in a positive light and, potentially, it might be.

Putting out low priced buy-ins for boardroom seats is a common enough strategy but a bit obvious in terms of attempting to gain influence on a board with such a dominant shareholding position.

Interesting next few weeks I suspect.

So it looks as if multiple millions will now be invested. But what about sporting integrity? Surely can't be acceptable to have mid-season investments of a size which make a mockery of the sporting competition. Suggest the SPFL needs to change the rules to prevent this sort of thing happening in future. Clubs should expect to run for a season with the resources they know they will have at the start of the season.

Really? What gives you the impression there will be an investment? The business is looking for £8m to stay alive another year. That's a heart transplant required when all the customers really care about are liposuction, penile extensions and a chance to appear in the knockout rounds of Mr Universe. Edited by Dr Koop

I am actually fairly upbeat, seems there actually is a queue of genuine saviours folk willing to invest out there, it also appears that the SFA were aware of this when they knocked Ashley back.

Tedi, did you hear that Oxford has taken the word 'gullible' out of the dictionary?

Serious question. Given the stories about Rangers' financial problems is the club finding it difficult to obtain non-football services? Can't imagine that any of the creditors left high and dry by the previous club will be willing to provide credit to the new entity, but are other organisations either demanding cash upfront or even refusing to do business with them?

But ... but ... it's a different business. Only the club is the same. That money was just resting in my account. (And so on.)

What about Ashley, I assume he'll be wanting the money he loaned back at some point, also did they pay off all the other "wee", "temporary" loans back.

It's like the stories you hear of people rolling over pay day lender loans, total tinks and an utter embarrassment.

I know its all one step at a time, but even if the club gets £6.5million of the share issue through this deal and £1.5million from existing shareholders to make up the shortfall required to keep the lights on, what then?

The club is losing money hand over fist on a monthly basis so where and how is that problem tackled before you even consider the future, like running on an even keel or dare I say it, even making money rather than losing it. What's the plan? Drifting from one begging bowl to the next only leads to one outcome.

Mrs ThirdRock summed it up this morning. She knows very little about football, but she asked two pretty simple questions.

"Why does anyone want to put money into Rangers? Are they not burst?"

Maybe she knows more about football than she lets on about.

How serious is this offer. The share offer was touted as 8 million worth ... The offer reads as they want to pay 6.5 for the lot, gain 30% of the company and two seats on the board ...

I can't see MA or the controlling shareholders and their directors going for it ...

Even taking into account the 8 million they need ... plus 3 million for MA loans .. (has letham got his 1 million back yet?) ... less fees for the share issue and there is rumours of other debts mounting as well ... it's a joke ...

Admin is looming if this is the best offer forth coming ....

It looks like a Happy New Year for Scottish Football ..... :thumsup2

Hmmm on one hand you 3 businessmen who have all done fairly well on the other hand Densboy (pro poker player and spokesman for Philip Macthingimy)

Rumour has it (timmy rumours, so we can dismiss it) that their £8m needed to see out the next 12 months is based on the following conditions applying:-

1. Promotion to the SPFL

2. 40k season book holders, paying £100 more per ticket than now.

3. Having a wage bill on par with Aberdeen.

If they achieve this then the 8m will still be needed to see out the 12 months ...

Fantastic .. what can go wrong.

See Densboys post as an example of how to tell a proper whopper.

Is that you suggesting Ted, that the SFA made their decision, safe in the knowledge that it would be to Rangers' advantage?

Cannae be, No8 keeps assuring us that the SFA are doing all in their power to destroy Rangers.

And on the third hand ...

There are countless examples of "businessmen who have done fairly well", but who left their brains behind when they got involved in football. Murray and Romanov spring to mind, not to mention Dave King, who allegedly lost £20 million "invested" in the first incarnation of Rangers but appears not to have learned anything.

Even Roman Abramovitch has yet to see any return on the squillions he's spent at Chelsea.

Bennett, do honestly think the media reports on the three bears are anything more than morale boosts for the Orcs at the moment?

The good ship Sevco is sinking Benny ... it's taking on water and the pumps are working overtime to keep it afloat ....

Ok the media made the reports up for laugh, the two Georges and douglas haven't really made an offer.

Is that you suggesting Ted, that the SFA made their decision, safe in the knowledge that it would be to Rangers' advantage?

Would be nice if the SFA explained their reasons, Stewart Regan did promise full transparency and we seem to be drifting back to Farry days.
