FifeSons
East Fife beating Tranent 5-1 shows how horrendous it would be for us to not breeze past Huntly.

And Bonnyrigg only drew at Home to Cumbernauld Colts... Therefore Huntly are now better than Dundee!
FifeSons
Question: is this Dundee side any better than our Championship side that lost to Bonnyrigg?
microdave
Bonnyrigg beating Dundee, which would nicely overshadow our horrendous loss to them. They seem to have a thing about playing DFC away.

He has a decent pedigree at least so I’m guessing he has something about him. As much as Smith had a decent game against Airdrie I can’t say I’m overly delighted about us heading into the second half of the season with him as no1. I thought with Hibs signing that guy from Arsenal that we might see big Kev back at some point this month but I’m guessing that ship has sailed now unfortunately. It is what is is. We obviously have hee-haw money to play with and we have to assume that the young lad has something which took him to Celtic in the first place. On his day Chris Smith is decent keeper but he seems very fragile fitness-wise. As regards the more general situation I wouldn't be at all surprised if the club is less than a box-office draw right now for potential loanees and more importantly their managers. We shall see. Smith is decent backup, but lets not forget that he was replaced in his last spell by Grant Adam and Conor Brennan - and I don't remember too many tears being shed at that. One good game at Airdrie does not make a summer. Or something like that. I've looked into JBH a week bit more and it seems he played six games on loan for Gloucester City (great work Wilf finding those highlights btw) and then three for Hungerford Town - also on loan. Gloucester were 17th in National League North, Hungerford last in National League South. That isn't a fantastic level, but it reassures me a wee bit that he's at least got a handful of senior games under his belt. I'm intrigued to see what he can do. Everything about him feels very Football Manager. Birmingham City having a former Scotland U17 international with a double barrelled surname who signs for Dumbarton.

I know we can’t really afford to wait on Dabrowski, but I’d still hoped could get him back, especially with Hibs making another signing. Feels like this signing has closed the door on that. FWIW, I’d definitely go with this young guy over Smith against Huntly. Great opportunity to test him out. FifeSons
Speaking of keepers, absolutely heartbroken for the Bonnyrigg keeper there. An unbelievable display.
squeezeboxson
Despite their struggles, Dundee manage to be professional enough to win in the end.

The only thing you can say about that is if we do get to play Aberdeen then 750 Dons fans subscribing generates more money that say 40 Stranraer fans. The flip side of that is that season tickets do not cover Cup games and the home element may drop off as a result. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, when they finally arrive here Huntly will now have no lack of motivation.
CoveRangers1922
Should get past Huntly although they are a decent Highland league team and will be extra motivated to get into the next round and have a "derby" game against Aberdeen.

FifeSons
It would be an absolute disgrace if we don’t beat Huntly, but that’s not to say it couldn’t happen. Given we can’t score, it’ll almost certainly be a much tighter game than it needs to be.
