Has anyone received their season ticket yet btw? Just realised I haven’t seen anything come through.

We are moving to a new platform. Announcements coming tomorrow and season tickets will be shared this week.

It'll be the only reason it's been formed.

I wouldn’t look at it like a one and done. Our goal is to have the club at the heart of the community and this will go along way to enable that to happen. Take a look at the likes of Montrose, Stenny, Spartans etc to see what is and can be achieved

If we weren't looking to install an artificial pitch would this Trust have been formed?

Probably.

Neil Mackay is a very significant believer in the beneficial role that a football club can play within the community. I've got my own concerns - the community stuff is nice to do, but we're a football club first and foremost and we need to be a stable football club before we can even think about being something more - but it's something that the chairman is passionate about. I don't doubt that this would always have been pursued with Mackay at the helm.

Yep as I say one of the immediate drivers is the pitch but there are many other initiatives that can directly and indirectly benefit the club as a whole and the first team.

Improve the facilities > increased revenue > likely improve first team (not always a guarantee in footy)

improved facilities > more youngster involved > increased chance of first team football > increased chance of sell on fee.

Just two examples but there are many more.

I appreciate the theory but I have a hard time believing we'll be selling on youngsters in 10 years time because we started a community trust.

He's passionate about the football club being at the heart of the community yet won't speak to the fans of said football club about anything. He's passionate about being able to pat himself on the back with this sort of stuff and that's about it.

The 2 things aren't mutually exclusive Moonster.

Mackay has a serious issue with public speaking. Clearly not a great trait for a football club chairman. But he is genuinely passionate about football clubs being an active part of their local community. So he's both in favour of wider community engagement and personally really uncomfortable doing it. Not a brilliant combination and one that's very frustrating for fans.

On another note, I'm pleased to see that we're going with Fanbase as our ticketing partner. I'm really not a fan of clubs moving to a reliance on online ticketing. There should always be an option for folk to turn up at their local ground and pay to attend a game. But Fanbase works well at clubs across the divisions. I'd be happy if we saw all clubs using Fanbase. It would mean a single registration for fans to buy tickets at multiple clubs and the app works really well. If we need to have digital ticketing then Fanbase are probably one of the best we could use. I also think that if Scottish football clubs were sensible then they'd approach Fanbase and offer some kind of official tie up in return for discounted access to the Fanbase app for clubs across the divisions.

Do all board members have an issue with public speaking (Cameron obviously not included in this as he is open and available for chats)? It seems a convenient thing to hide behind when you don't want to engage with the support. We had that Paul guy tell us everything was going to change and f**k all has happened. Is he even still on the board?

Likely not I'd imagine but it is considerably easier to obtain grant funding for community projects which will in turn benefit the football club by doing it through a Community Trust which is a registered charity. A football club which is a trading business has far less access to such funding. That might for instance include repairs at the stadium which would improve the community use (and have direct fringe benefit for the club). It might include employing a community officer who can assist with a number of things around the club. Perhaps funding for your youth teams (do you still have youth teams?).

There's a very good reason why almost every SPFL club has a related Community Trust.

Other e-ticketing companies are available! Do you own shares in Fanbase? 😂

Haha  @Skyline Drifter you sound like the BBC "other platforms are available" 😉  @BallochSonsFanhas a good point though and it was one of the reasons we went with if as there are quite a few others on it, it makes it a easier experience for fans rather than chopping and changing.

We want to make access to the games as easy as possible and for me online is a great option as it allows folks to get their ticket at anytime day or night, moving away from can you go to the stadium at X time. For most games we will still have a cash turnstile for those who prefer to use that method.

Meh, Fanbase are fine generally but we had some issues with their Stripe payments platform when we trialed it pre-Covid. Back then you could only use Stripe if using Fanbase (don't know if that's still the case) so we looked elsewhere. We use Ticketco who have been very reliable and every bit as easy as Fanbase to use. Stirling Albion use Ticketco too. There's nothing you're claiming for Fanbase above that isn't also the case with every other e-ticketing company. Airdrie and Arbroath use Future Ticketing, Ayr use Main Event. etc, etc.

Other ticketing platforms are available. But it's a pain in the arse having to register your details with several different clubs. It's also a pain in the arse when some ticketing platforms don't have good apps and don't offer google wallet integration. Hell, the ticketing company that the Clan use can't even send individual ticket pdfs. Multiple tickets are sent on a single pdf file.

One service covering most clubs and with a more standard user interface/ticket option would make it far better for fans.

I’m pretty happy with both the community trust and the new ticketing system.

The community trust can only be a good thing going forward and I for one can’t wait until we have our artificial pitch installed. Mainly due to the state of the pitch for what feels like a decade now but also for the improved training facilities and community engagement.

Fanbase brings us into the 21st century as well and should make things much easier in general.

You dont have to register at all on Ticketco, you just buy. It takes about 30 seconds.

But I'm not here to sell Ticketco. Fundamentally they all do what they say on the tin. Just not sure what the great obsession with Fanbase is that we should all move onto it.
