Shouldn't be treating cups with contempt any way just because a certain manager does

Any cup that facilitates B teams should be treated like a piece of old dusty jobby on your shoe. I’d play the Dumbarton Utd/U20 boys in every single game until it changes. I couldn’t give a monkeys about the increased prize money whilst these daft B teams are involved.

You'd give a monkey's if you were a member of the current DFC Board, that's for sure.

I liked the look of young Shields a lot, and it was fascinating to see a winger as direct as an arrow alongside one who produces more slaloms in a season than Glenshee.

He reminded me of Mickey Rankine who briefly lit up Boghead in the 1980's before an appalling tackle by a former Morton player of this parish effectively curtailed his career.

I hope we see him again soon.

Delighted to see that he's in the squad for Cove tomorrow.

I don't know anything other than what I saw the other night.  He came over at the end of the game and I'd reckon he was maybe 19 say ?

Just looking to update my squad list but can't find an age for him anywhere.

He's very nearly 18. Its not that young.

Aidan Smith scored for us at Ibrox when he was younger. Lewis Gibson made his debut at 16 two years ago.

Given the only youth products we've ever had come through at Dumbarton are Nicky Devlin, Tony Wallace and Martin McNiff, forgive us if we get a wee bit excited about two 17 year olds breaking into our first team. It doesn't happen for us, ever really.

And all the guys mentioned there are a decent chunk older than me, so I'm experiencing this 'WTF, I remember that year' feeling for the first time with our own youth players.

Who was the last guy we had come through who got us excited? Must be from the Donald McCallum, Joe Coleman or Ally McKerracher era. McCallum looked incredible in his first few games but just never really kicked on any. Shame.

McCallum was the last one who threatened to make it. I remember him scoring a really good strike at home on a midweek night from outside the box and thinking if he could bulk up he'd be a useful player but it wasn't to be. I know Shields and Grivas have both been brought in from another club and aren't really products of our youth system but it's encouraging that the U20s are at least able to attract boys to come in and flirt with the first team.

That would've been a midweek thumping of Alloa, I think?

Point well earned was celebrating when goal came up on Flashscore

Likewise, a big celebration from me, too. Feels like it’s been a while since we’ve had to follow along like that, without a stream. It’s painful, but great when the goal flashes up.

I had a 4 1/2 hour exam today and am absolutely knackered, so that was a lovely end to the day.
