Shuggie_Murray7
Edinburgh is alright I could just never see myself living there, the same as pretty much every city in the country.
ka202
Fucking hate Glasgow for a night out, same question gets asked time and time again, 'where have you been tonight lads?' Quickly followed by 'not tonight lads eh!' Worst drinking place in Scotland for not getting in places, so I just don't bother now, never been out in Glasgow for about 8 years so this may have changed since then. The only times I've ever been knocked back in Glasgow was either 1. because me or someone I was with was too pished or 2. trying to get into a "student night" despite not having student ID. Never understood what it is people are doing to be refused entry.

Yep been out in Glasgow loads of times and only ever rejection was a group of us tried to go into a casino after the club at like 3am and somebody stumbled near the entrance! Folk always say the ABC bouncers are c***s, and they are about dickish always asking the annoying 'where you been?' type questions (ABC is the only place in Glasgow that bothers to ask) but one time I was going in with a guy and when asked how much he'd had he said "Just the usual, 5 pints" and they just let him in so they're not that bad! TheScarf
There's more than 56,000 in Inverness too. I'd add 10k onto that figure at least.
Guest
The first thing to say is that supposed stereotypes of Glaswegian's and Edinburger's wouldn't come into my choice, because by and large they're the same. Walking about town for the day doesn't equate to knowing a city, and anyone who's lived in both cities will know that Glasgow folk aren't mainly knife wielding nutters and Edinburgh folk aren't mainly unfriendly, stuck up snobs. Only a blinkered rasper would think that. In short, Glasgow is much livelier with better nightlife and more to do, but Edinburgh is by far and away a nicer city and just generally a more relaxing place to be. So, if I had to spend my entire life between the cities I'd say: 0-18 - Edinburgh 18-30 - Glasgow The rest - Edinburgh. Oh no, Edinburgh folk aren't as hard as other cities. What a terrible shame. No offence, but that's a ridiculous statement. What tourist attractions do you know in Granton, Pilton, Muirhouse, Craigentinny, Drylaw, Royston, Sighthill, Oxgangs or Niddrie? I could go on and on. In fact, walk past town and there's nothing touristy about Edinburgh, it's mainly a place to live like any city in the world. The main thing I'm learning from this thread is that people get most of their opinions from stereotypes and myths. But everyone else is saying Glasgow's great because of how Scottish it is, unlike Edinburgh with those b*****ding non-Scottish types? I'm confused now. Glasgow all the way. throbber
I lost interest in going out to clubs when i was 22, people who judge a city by what goes on it nightclubs that are over 25 are morons I still love both cities and in particular i love the diversity between the 2 despite being an hour away from each other. Scottish people have always (and are doing so now) put their country down and be incredibly modest by you are talking about 2 top European cities. Edinburgh is the finest for me because of the fringe, castle and scenery but Glasgow is a wonderful place despite all the morons that attempt to drag down its fine reputation

throbber
Too many white settlers? Edinburgh has the hole "whatever, so long as your not bothering me vibe" which i love and it gets me by here. Glasgow has the " What you doing? Where you from? Im open minded but still want to know" sort of vibe which i also love. Only thing about glasgow is that its pretty scabby and has poor architecture outwith the west end and it is over run by ****
