FlyerTon
If theres next to nae traffic and its pishin away cash then the decent thing to do is close it. and lets not forgett we dont realy need it anyway. BUT this is an election year, the snp are riding high in the polls. would they realy put 2000 people out of work in ayreshire? Turn Leuchars into an airport, would probably get more passengers being close to Dundee and not too far from Perth. Would also be good for St Andrews and the golf. That is unless they tear up the runway when it becomes an army base. Edit to add: There could be some mileage in Leuchars becoming an airport, the link below is from last years stating 'MOD open to Leuchars becoming an airport' http://www.scotsman.com/news/transport/mod-open-to-leuchars-becoming-passenger-airport-1-3322479

FlyerTon
Have you ever tried driving to St Andrews from, well, anywhere? It's OK coming in from Dundee and the Tay Bridge. Pity there's no more airshow at Leuchars as a great way to avoid all the traffic was to go over the Tay Bridge, left into Tayport and after a few miles pick up a single track road off the B945 right into Leuchars. Mr Bairn
For me Stirling would be the perfect place for a massive Scottish international airport. Probably the most central place in Scotland, easy enough to sort out rail links to Glasgow, Edinburgh and the highlands. Prestwick would still have it's place because Ayrshire is probably the one part of the country that wouldn't benefit from an airport in Stirling. bob the tank
On the site of Brucefield golf course IMO About ten years ago I suggested that a national stadium be built at Pirnhall at the motorway junction and have a train station and loads of parking. I was absolutely ripped for even thinking about it by the guys at work

Hampden Diehard
Back when Prestwick used to be fairly busy with Wizzair and Ryanair, to mention but two, you'd get a substantial number of flights talking off before public transport could get you there, or arriving after the last bus or train out of Prestwick. It's served by a train station; an anomaly in Scotland where we haven't got a feckin clue how to do joined up public transport. It's only within the last year that you could get a bus from Glasgow city centre to Edinburgh.
Shandon Par
Dunfermline have a 'player' called Ryan Thomson. You might remember him scoring for us in the SPL, or possibly from the taxi rammy story or the ferret incident. Anyway, on being told that he had to report to Prestwick Airport for a preseason trip to some Euro training camp he complained about "having to go all the way to England" to catch a flight.
