Yep, standard and predictable response.

I've already provided a defintion of a nation state. You have not. Hence the general faeces throwing you normally indulge in.

You haven't actually provided the definition of a nation-state, but simply quoted an assertion as to Britain being a nation-state, as provided by an IT worker with absolutely zero credibility in the field. Which is why he had the stupidity in the first place to compare 'empires' like Austria-Hungary to France and Britain in 1878: the second and third largest empires in the world at that time. :1eye He's an idiot who you backed for no valid reason whatsoever, and as a result you have lost all credibility in doing so.

Better luck (Googling) next time.

I think the main pre-requisite for academic credibility is qualifying in a subject that isn't second rate.

This is where you fall down champ. You can keep telling yourself that really History is just as good as anything else, whilst those in the true elite disciplines snigger into their palms.

Nice try champ, but I don't think I'll be taking lectures on academic merit from someone who failed to get to doctorate level and works in IT. Because rather predictably, you don't have the credibility to do so.

The Anthony C Pick of this forum then. Just let that sink in.

I openly admit to Google search being a friend - who wouldn't?

That being said it does make sense to check your source is credible. That's why I always check the background of the source - no point in being ridiculed for pulling out an "expert" in the field who turns out not to be.

That's not particularly aimed at VT either - there's been some toppers pulled in as "expert witnesses" by the Glasgow Law School - I'm sure Confi will post them.

:D

Fraid not. I want this thread to linger in the utter owning that VT handed H_B a little longer.

It was HB who brought him up. And I think you'll find you should have said "There have been some toppers"
