Most United fans will tell you Souttar is never a defender. They're wrong. No doubt the kid will make lots of mistakes over the next couple of years, but he has just turned 19 and hasn't actually played centre back for quite a while now. No doubt the kid will make lots of mistakes over the next couple of years, but he has just turned 19 and hasn't actually played centre back for quite a while now. If Hearts stick by him, he has every chance of turning into a very very good centre back. Neilson was saying an interview the other day that we definitely see him as a centre half and that he definitely has the ability but needs to tighten up on a few of the basics that seem to have been neglected. Our conditioning coach has a good record of bulking up our players as well, so this coupled with it being a fresh start for the laddie has me quite excited by Souttar.
