I think he did explain that he counted 8 but didn’t plate it and left it behind. when stuff like what happened to Sandro occurs ie their oven isn’t switched on I think it’s pretty harsh and someone should overlook it to make sure the device is active as it’s not really anything to do with their baking skills. You see it every year.It never disappeared as he never made 8, he made 7. He made up some nonsense to hide his blushes that he clearly can't count. I noticed it at the time of frying but assumed I had seen wrong as he never commented. But obviously he did make an arse of it. It may well be the editing of the show but any time he's receiving negative feedback his entire persona changes and he looks like he wants to stab someone. It's not nice receiving negative feedback but the others tend to take the advice on board and nod along whereas he just looks fizzing. Sandro the other week is a good example. I thought he was close to the wire for the first few weeks (no surprise he hadn't had a handshake or star baker) but the week I expected him to go he was steady and has been ever since. I don't know how common knowledge having to boil vegeterian gelatin is, but if you didn't know that you were humped. Making use of a previous bake for the bread I wasn't a fan of either, as a mistake with it would impact the technical too.
