Can you trust a single word Alistair Darling says about finance?

This is the man that was the Chancellor of the Exchequer when the UK careered into a financial crisis, compounded by a Prime Minister in Brown that had laid the groundwork for the monumental collapse.

Just how can anyone believe a single word either of these men say about the future of independent Scottish finances when they were so recklessly culpable for the mess that this country found itself in.

Indeed. He's a Scots lefty so its to be expected.

If you genuinely think Labour is "left" then you are still living in the 70's. In fact you could argue some policies put into place by the Conservatives are more "left wing" than the Labour ones put forward.

However it is nice to see you agree that neither Brown nor Darling can be trusted, and considering their relevant influence on the BT campaign, it just goes to show you cannot trust BT either.

Yeah, imagine making stuff up about finances. You wouldn't catch the yes campaign spouting bullshit figures they've pulled from thin air....oh wait...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scottish-independence/11026966/Eye-catching-Alex-Salmond-independence-claim-was-based-on-no-economic-modelling.html

So is that you defending Darling and Brown?

It's funny how the Torygraph is happy to trump up that fluff piece while ignoring the massive errors that the BT campaign have made; from misrepresenting the costs of setting up a full Scottish government to the claim that every Scot would be £1400 better of if they voted No. Both of those debunked within minutes of their publication.

Miliband is far more left wing than Salmond is.

I dont trust them. I dont trust "BT" either. But thanks for your concern.

Brown has influence in the BT campaign? Thankfully that one eyed fucktard has been shunned by virtually everyone in politics these days after his catastrophic effort in government.

They are a shower of c***s. But it hasn't made the slightest bit of difference when up against a yes campaign that has made them look almost competent.

Difficult one to call to be honest, after all Miliband doesn't have the flexibility to be who he would like to be as he has public opinion on one side and the unions on the other. Rock and a hard place as it were. Salmond I see more as a pragmatist so some of the policies he introduced in the first SNP term needed the support of the Conservatives (against the Lib/Lab pact) and thus did have the tinge of blue to them.

However this is not about Miliband or Salmond, this is about Labour and their position on the political spectrum. Post Kinnock they swung massively to the centre and still hold that position (even after Blair) not having the courage to represent the very people who elected them.

There was considerable support for him to get involved in BT while Darling floundered, he refused (presumably still stinging from the sentiment that was whipped up by the London centric press when PM) but is more than willing to campaign on their behalf. For example his speech on pensions.. http://bettertogether.net/blog/entry/being-part-of-the-uk-secures-the-pensions-of-scots-gordon-brown ..which is lovely when you consider the affect his actions had on the pensions of nearly every single Briton when in power.

At least we agree on that matter.

BT have simply spread lies and fearmongering. At no point has it looked competent, only bitter and angry. The politics of negativity have come entirely from Westminster.

We do agree on that.

BT are an irrelevance, I have taken nothing to do with them whatsoever. Who the f**k is Blair McDougall anyway?

But as mentioned already, they didn't actually have to be any good as no was going to win regardless.
