Remember that argument that Scotland would just be like Panama if it didn't get a CU? Well the WEF (World Economic Forum) has published it's 2013/14 report, and in it's section relating to which countries banks were considered more sound Panama comes in at 12th. The UK? Well.. keep on scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling... until you get to 89th!

That's a bit of a sickener for the nodrones, shooting themselves into the foot once more.

I also saw somewhere that Panama have 8% growth at the moment and was, unsurprisingly, rated as buoyant.

Canada kept the old banking rules in place during the crazy years and didn't crash anywhere near as hard as the rest of the developed world. I shudder when I hear the rUK parties (especially UKIP and the Tories) talking about the EU constraining the banks, and a need to cut loose the apron strings.
