It's weird because I've actually been doing a Scottish football ground mapping project with a fellow P&Ber and have been looking at these old maps on the NLS website for the last few months solid Odd to see them pop up on our kit at the same time. It's interesting flicking through time periods and seeing the city change. Buildings and streets coming and then going. Same goes for grounds in Dundee, many of which I didn't even know existed. Havercroft Park at the top of the Provy road being one and another that was on my street before my tenements were built in about 1905. Here's the area of Dens (marker is the centre spot) in 1892, when we were but a glint in the Our Boys & East End board members eyes, or something - Bowbrig' and Caldrum works in their full glory. A grid-like plan for streets around what would become Caird Avenue. All the land between the Provy rd and Arklay st seems to be East Clepington farm, with the exception of Fairbairn street which was planned (dashed lines) to run right through our site to the Provy. Similarly planned but never happened is the other dashed line that spans the full page, this was the proposed Dundee suburban railway which would've ran right across where our pitch would come to be. We moved in in 1899 and by the 1903 town plan we make our first appearance, as does a plan for Sandeman street. By 1906 we seem to have expanded. The pitch and stands have edged northwards and embankments seem to have been built, forcing the now partially built Sandeman street further north along with it. This more detailed map from about the turn of the century shows East Clepington Park on what was then Esk Street, where our first and so dearly missed neighbours Dundee Wanderers played from 1894-1909. I notice also at this point our pitch still isn't quite at it's modern day orientation being pre Main Stand. Is the Grand Stand to the south the Derry's Dad?..... And here she is, having swollen to fill the space entirely in all her terraced glory Our previous ground Carolina Port is also visible on town plans from the time - And our first home (where we actually lost 5 of our 7 games... We wouldn't have suited being a Stobie team, anyway) West Craigie Park was in here somewhere by the mill dam. Town plan is from the same year in which we played here (1893), although it was used prior by Our Boys from 1882. Anyway, that's enough map geekery from me. If anyone's interested in time travelling through old Dundee (and beyond) they're all found here - Georeferenced Maps - Map images - National Library of Scotland (nls.uk) Thank you.
kenrobell
That’s Dundee on tv twice in one month and if you include new package from premier for league cup means over 2 months Dundee is being broadcast 5 times

RossBFaeDundee
Just the one trialist today, assume Bristow got binned? Ingram wearing #16 today. Gorrin starts this time. Main and Portales back in the squad and starting, Fin starts as well.

Be good if the doc can give an update on Pineda so we can draw a line under him would have thought there would be a part to play for him with proper pre season

RossBFaeDundee
Portales miles out of position there, Poznan passing into the empty space. This is a team that can cut most Scottish sides into pieces if we don't stay disciplined, good test for the season ahead.

jakedee
1st 15 mins we needed another ball so we could get a touch, just as we started looking not too bad, ripped apart. We look really vulnerable to long balls over the top, their pace up front is causing our back 5 all sorts of problems. On the plus side Ingram looks decent.

Der Panzer
We had a shot! Palmer Houlden should’ve played it through first time though imo.
