I'm not versed enough in the art of pitch to know personally, the frustration certainly was coming from the amount of players falling on their arses, but then is that the pitch or the wrong footwear? I have no opinion because I don't know enough about it, but have heard various pros and ex pros agree with G man regarding watering the pitch to give it a "zip." I also remember watching Hamilton studiously watering the right wing of their plastic pitch when we played them down there, which I in my luddite mind found bizarre but is probably due to the same thing.

Whatever they did to the pitch on Saturday it wasn't enough to stop KT injuring himself on it. I certainly didn't see anyone else involved. Hope it's not the usual scenario regarding this, given the amount that are already oot.

I'm not claiming any expertise myself, like the old gadges round you (and me) I don't get why we either water the pitch OR let the players wear boots that will let them fall on their arse on a regular basis. Fair enough if you're caught out away but you should know the state of your home pitch.

Aye, you're quite right Mr. Root. The Calder lad seemed to be the least steady on his feet and therefore the greatest source of frustration. I suppose he is the one for whom starting and stopping at pace has the most effect. I do think the pitch looks great I have to say. Wonder if we've got one of those sets of canteen food heating lights that is on a rig and gets wheeled over the pitch to keep the grass growing in the winter.

If some of the guys today got introduced to the pitch the league cup final against United was played on I'd like to see their reactions!
