Confidemus
I'm heading off to this tonight. I've a feeling the crowd will be fairly No Thanks slanted, so the more feisty, handsome young Yes lads (that's for H_B), the better. Hugh Hunter is an imbecile, so it should be good. Meathead
I'm swithering about whether to head along to this. Stephen Watson is one of my lecturers at uni and I'd be quite interested to hear what he has to say, but none of the other guests really appeal to me. I'll see how it goes, I guess. Is Watson a good orator then? I have no idea who Michael Shanks is.
Meathead
Is Watson a good orator then? I have no idea who Michael Shanks is. Yeah I'd say he's a pretty good orator. I expect his debating style to be a bit different from his lecturing style though. As a lecturer he's confident to the point of being laid back, and he can be a bit repetitive. I think being in this kind of environment will force him to be a bit sharper and if he's well prepared (as he generally wasn't at lectures) he'll cut out the almost-patronising repetitiveness. He's a really positive, friendly guy and will send out a good message, but he doesn't have that aggressive streak that top debaters like Robin McAlpine have. Likewise, I have no idea who Michael Shanks is.

DeeTillEhDeh
where's that from? Just Google his voting record and comments on Gay Marriage.
DeeTillEhDeh
Totally agree. So is Jim McGovern. McGovern clearly playing to the Catholic vote in Dundee West - seems daft to me.
