If he manages to hold onto his seat then a new labour candidate will be less likely to hold it come the inevitable by election Barring unforeseen circumstances I can't see Jim Murphy's "leadership" lasting more than a few more weeks. If, as now seems likely, they get well under 30% of the vote and lose almost all of their seats he'll be expected to do the honourable thing and resign.
