HibeeJibee
No, not for clubs... I think there was a thread on that before... but this is probably even more bizarre, given the calibre of the fixtures involved. On 26 November 1958, Jack Kelsey played goal for England v Wales in the Home Championship at Villa Park, Birmingham. They drew 2-2. In those days floodlight was still in its infancy so the game started 2pm. Full-time came at 3:43pm. He quickly bathed and changed, then left Villa Park at 4:03pm, and - aided by police escort - made the 4:30pm southbound express from Birmingham New Street. He arrived at London Euston at 6:54pm, hailed a taxi, reached Highbury at 7:16pm, then made it onto the pitch at 7:29pm, 60 seconds before kickoff in an Arsenal v Juventus match. They won 3-1. Has anyone ever heard of similar instances of such a, frankly incredible, feat?

Came on as a sub right enough. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Hughes#Bayern_Munich_.28loan.
CK
Scott Howie played for Scotland U21 in a Euro Qualifier against Malta at Tannadice on the afternoon of 16th February 1993, then played for Clyde against Queen of the South later that evening in a 2nd Division match at Douglas Park. Eednud
Variation on the theme but I think Queen's Park played a Div 2 game a few hours after a Scotland v England game or maybe it was a Cup SF or Final. Would have been between 1960-1962 and I think it was East Fife they played.

Ko 2pm game finished by 3.43, did they not have ht in those days or something? 90 mins for the game , 5/6 mins to allow for added time, that puts ht at only 7/8 mins. Half the time we allow now. ForzaDundee
Just last month Roy Carroll played in Northern Ireland‘s 2-0 defeat to Romania, winning man of the match then kept a clean-sheet in Notts County‘s victory at Coventry. All in 24 hours.

Half the time we allow now. I would doubt if any time was added in those days. No subs and you only got treatment if you were very close to death. Half time would be ten minutes tops. The scores used to come through on the old BBC videoprinter at about 16.41 onwards.

All in 24 hours. I recall seeing that... Unless he caught a ramshackle local flight into Vienna, met the westbound Orient Express, jumped an overnight boat-train to Dover before completing his journey by milk-cart, it's not in the same category as Kelsey... Incidentally, Kelsey's team-mate Clapton did similarly - then wasn't picked to start !!
Fuctifano
I remember the shouts when holding onto a narrow lead "mon tae f**k ref, that's nearly quarter to 5". 3pm kick offs rarely finish before 4.50 now.

HibeeJibee
In a similar vein... In the 1956 FA Amateur Cup final Corithians-Casual had to face Bishop Auckland without one of their main star players Mike Stewart, was had gone off on a cricket tour of the West Indies. After the game was drawn at Wembley (before a crowd of 80,000!!) the replay was fairly rearranged for a location in the north. "After the match Corinth sent a telegram to Mike Stewart, asking him to return for the replay at Middlesbrough. He had played in every round up to the Semi-Final. His 4,500 miles dash, which involved a charter plane from Prestwick at the cost of £200, failed by three minutes and he arrived at the ground partly changed just after the kick off. Gerry Citron continued at inside left".
MEADOWXI
My favourite stat about that sort of thing, The West of Scotland Cup Final was played on the afternoon of 16/06/62. The score was Irvine Meadow 2 Greenock 2. As this was officially the last day of the season, they played the replay that night and the Meadow won 4 - 0. Think both games were at Shawfield. So two teams, two games, one day.
