MacGafraidh
How long do you think you will be in the Juniors before a LFL application goes in?
lang
Would b better spending ur money on ur facilities rather than ur team. U wont get 300 fans 2 travel from airdrie 2 coatbridge
Greenock
So another team that is homeless Benburb, royal albert, Bellshill, Renfrew Newmains, Rob Roy, anymore ? Criteria should at least be you have a decent park. Sounds like you are at the mercy of the council .
LongTimeLurker
Think this is the obvious venue for a junior club in Coatbridge and Airdrie (can even remember discussing what the possibilities were on that in a thread with Sergeant Wilson shortly after joining this sub-forum) and there is an obvious gap in the market for a junior club in an area with a combined population of 100,000 or so when the surrounding villages are factored in. Ambitious youth and amateur clubs joining the junior grade in areas that don't currently have a team is something that should be encouraged. LongTimeLurker
I seriously doubt they'll get much of a crowd initially no matter where they play. Also suspect they will eventually find a way to get the ground in Airdrie up to the level it needs to be at, in a similar way to Rossvale's plans to eventually play in Bishopbriggs. What's every bit as important is the angle of a club with a bit of finance flowing in providing an opportunity for players to play at that sort of level. Baillieston, Glenboig, Blantyre Celtic and Stonehouse Violet have fallen by the wayside with Newmains looking vulnerable. Lanarkshire needs a few new junior teams to appear on the scene to replace the ones that have been falling away over the years.

Gartcairn Army
Lads Gartcairn are based in Airdrie where we have our own park but the changing rooms are a bit to far away from the park. This will be rectified as soon as we can but in the mean time we have agreed to play at Coatbridge outdoor centre and we have the option to play at the Airdrie stadium midweek, Friday nights or when its available. I agree we wont get as much of a support in Coatbridge but im fairly sure it will still be in the top 3 attendances in the 2nd division. Our club has lots of coatbridge players and parents and we represent the full of Monklands not just Airdrie. As for spending money on facilities rather than players...We have not spent a penny on players but have spent lots on the facilities and will continue to do so! Cheers lads
