I see Adam Tomkins wants to stand for parliament next year.

He wants to see Ruth as FM and doesn't believe the SNP "deserve" to be in power, they are a protest party.

Looking forward to the tears when he fails to get elected

Tomkins is the dictionary definition of a seething mess.

Is that what he said to you?

f**k him, he deserves to remain in the political wilderness.

Proper w**k of a guy, seen him in Morrisons cafe last month with his puss tripping him, probably gutted he couldn't use expenses to pay for his breakfast

Again, I've heard lots of people say things like this. I've yet to hear a specific, backed up criticism.

Recorded crime is falling in Scotland but, despite having fewer offences to investigate, Police Scotland are managing to clear up 50,000 fewer crimes each year than the eight constabularies managed a decade ago.

Baffling. Imagine being unable to clear up more crimes when less crimes are being reported. How has the clearup rate changed it in percentage terms?

SNP Information officer Mairi McAllan is looking to be on the list, for South of Scotland. She'd be getting my vote.

WidWidWid. She's only 22 as well, so it's a fair achievement to have some kind of prominent position in the SNP at her age.

It's actually slightly higher. Inconvenient that.

In percentage terms you are right the rate of clear up has gone from 47.5% a decade ago to 51.5% last year. The number of recorded crimes was 419257 10 years ago of which 199147 were solved. Last year 270397 crimes were reported of which 139254 got solved so about 59,000 fewer crimes solved last year than a decade ago. The percentage is only really higher now because fewer crimes got reported.

That's excellent news. So we have falling crime rates, and at the same time a higher proportion of solved cases.

Eh No. The percentage is higher because proportionately more of the reported crimes were solved.

Are you suggesting that we should have more crimes so that the police can solve a higher number? Or perhaps you don't actually understand what you are posting?

Dearie me.

What makes you think a smaller proportion of crimes are reported now than 10 years ago?
