Deefiant
Gala Fairydean Rovers - Season 2016/17 update Initial Squad Youth Intake Transfers League Table There you have it - 4th place and into the playoffs! For a long while it felt like I was in a relegation battle but it all came together in the end. 4th place takes on the 9th placed League 1 team - in this case Stranraer. Bookies and media gave me no chance. Absolute scenes!!! Unfortunately, Queens Park were the opposition in the final. The one team to routinely hump me all season. I was at home in the first leg, a scrappy 0-0 which I'd say I should have won but at least this gave me the opportunity to finish my season with a final at Hampden..... Absolutely fucking horsed after taking the lead. Another season in League 2 awaits and although that was my initial goal it feels a bit gutting! Season Review Some achievements for the season... League 2 POTY - some boy League 2 Team OTY - top scorer makes the cut in addition to Stevie boy. Onto Season 2 then! I've retained all my players but with the added depth from the youngsters to augment the squad I'm hoping for a similar sort of finish. Would love the playoffs again but not really expecting them.
Mackie The Staggie
So was getting bored with my normal game and was looking for something different and came across this and thought why not.......yeah....anyway, started off with Brora Rangers, Initial Squad - Not much too it really, Colin Maclean would go on to be the top goalscorer with 17 for the season, nobody else came close to that. No real stand outs. Brittain and Munro will not be signing on but everyone else got resigned for the next season Youth Intake - I went full Oprah with this one.....you get a contract, you get a contract, EVERYONE gets a contract!!! Transfers - taken at the end of the season, proof that no signings came in. Season 2016/2017 - It wasn't easy, it took me a number of attempts to find a tactic that worked well and to be honest, there's still a fair amount of work to be done. but with one game to go the table looked like this..... ...and the last game is against Stenhousemuir. Damn. And relax. With Montrose beating Abroath rather comfortably 4-2 all I had to do was avoid a loss, and yet in typical fashion I made it hard work *sigh* Progress on the Challenge - I decided to go with the Youth facilities first, I had a game against Rangers away in the league cup so got a fair bit of money....surely we could use that in the club. So with cap in hand, I knock on the chairmans door and make the request.... OK that wasn't that bad Well that was expected, but I will press the issue ....right.....this isn't going well is it. Still I believe it is needed. ....wait what....REALLY. YEEAAASS. On to the next season, this may just work.......
Mackie The Staggie
Season 2017/2018 Ok, since it is the Easter Weekend and I have nothing better to do, I blasted through season 2 of the challenge and f**k me sideways this was a tough one. Losing Brittian and Munro meant that I had only 9 senior players from the start, this meant some of the young boys where going to be flung in at the deep end. I forgot to get a screenshot of the squad at the start of the season so a screenie of the squad at the end of the season will have to do. Youth Intake - Despite the upgrade to the youth facilites, it's still a long....LONG....way off from producing anything of quality. The intake didn't really have any standouts. I signed most of them up mainly to flesh out my youth squad. Overall I have about 50ish players in total going into the next season so will be spending a fair amount splitting the team up and nailing down my 1st team and Under 20's. The following two players where the standout of the crop.....yep, going to be tough. Season - This was a nightmare, but thankfully the board have very low expectations at the moment. What was not needed was an injury to Andrew Greig which would keep him out for most of the season, a major blow as he was putting in his fair share of assists last season. I finished rock bottom but still managed to screw with the top of the table by beating Clyde in the penultimate game allowing Montrose to take the title....which is nice. So onto the playoffs and it was Arbroath Rovers, my arch enemy from last season, that I was drawn against. I felt confident enough going into the finals as I had managed to get a bit of momentum going into it. 1st leg 3-1 up into the last minute and we do what we've being doing all throughout the season, defend like we are Hibs. Frustration thy name is Football Manager. 2nd leg I pepper the goal like that and yet....still can't defend at all. But look who scored that vital goal, Andrew Greig in his 1st game back since his cruciate ligament injury steps up and leads the team to victory. I'll be honest, I almost weeped for joy for the guy. Next Season Goals - It's still all about getting 9th place. I get a tactic that works for a few games but then it goes off the rails quite soon. The team is very young and make many mistakes, I think I have to dial back on the instructions and make it a bit simpler for them. Despite all this, I rather enjoying this challenge.

Deefiant
I've completed my second season with Gala - we've scraped 9th on the last day so survived! I'll fire up screenshots tomorrow. I did however fail to get one of my youth intake so apologies in advance for that - one player came straight into my first team purely because he is a natural cm, only my 2nd player capable of playing there! There's a keeper and LW with good potential but the rest was utter dross.
Deefiant
Never noticed before but the £516 payment for getting horsed out of the challenge cup first round is scant consolation.
Yonas
Id be tempted to give this a bash but would last about 10 games and be sacked due to how awful I am on the new game. I could get Celtic relegated from the SPL. Its that bad.

I could get Celtic relegated from the SPL. Its that bad. Its actually pretty hard to get sacked tbh, as expectation are so low. Just started a new attempt in the English leagues, due to ten reloads not getting me a Scottish one. Team meeting only gave me the option of battling bravely against relegation yet all the players say I'm being totally unrealistic

Playing through Norway leagues just now or trying just get hit by bad form each season ruining it.
Mackie The Staggie
Season 2018/2019 - You Don't Win Anything With Kids I've been meaning to write this up for a while but being distracted by a few other games and only got around to finishing the season off. So how did the 3rd Season in Brora's journey go........ Starting Squad - Much the same now, got a core squad set and only added 3 players from last season youth intake into the senior squad. Steve Armstrong (STK), Darren Chisholm (ML) and Scott Morgan (DC) all got added but used only in case of injuries and suspensions. I don't want to throw these guys in and possible stunt there development as all just 16 years old. Having said that Armstrong impressed when given the chance and will be used more often. Initial Squad Darren Chisholm, Scott Morgan & Steve Armstrong 2 of the squad will not be returning next year. Brian McQueen has been getting slower and slower this season and cost a large amount of goals, despite being fans favourite I'll not be offering a contract. The second to go is Andrew Greig, his return from injury has come at a cost to his ability, he's slower and according to my coaches he's just good enough for Highland/Lowland league, no room for sentimentality pal, off you go. This years Youth Intake - Now I have the numbers in both my senior and Under 20's squad, it's time to be more selective with my intake. Inow only going to be taking on players who show potential or have sufficient current ability to break into the squad. This meant out of this crop, only taking 3 players. Greame Mckenzie (GK) as cover for the Under 20's squad, Tom Campbell (DC, DM, MC) has a potential to be a leading league 1 player and covers a few potions and John Lawson (M/AML) who also has potential of leading league 1 player. I want to use them sparringly but may be forced to play sooner rather than later. *forgot to take screenies of them, sorry* Money - or lack off to be more accurate. I'm spending less than £1,500 per week with a budget of £3,900 yet still record losses of about £5,000 - £8,000 per month. The problem is I don't go far in cups, finish low and win about 6 games a season so no fans turn up.....yet for me to improve the youth batches I need money. I wonder if there is a FM version of Uncle Roy and his millions waiting for Brora. Season - Pre-season I managed to get a few 'glamour' ties in the hope to get a few coins through the gates and it gave me a bit of hope with a 1-1 draw at home to Shieffiled Wednesday, we even took the lead. Is this the season where it turns for Brora, do I get my hopes up... ....nope..... I comprehensive thrashing not long into the season sets the tone for Brora. Despite constantly changing the tactics, pleading with the team and willing to offer my liver to the gaming gods, I could not get a win and finished last again So play-offs again and it's a ghost off a previous team that I meet. This is personal for me as I saw their old club lift the trophy in Dingwall while we got relegated...NOT THIS TIME GRETNA. Leg 1 Leg 2 That was a bit closer than I wanted, but still another season beckons and the challenge is still alive. Next season will be better........won't it? Deefiant
Board won't upgrade youth facilities or training facilities due to our "financial position". We have £240k in the bank compared to £20k 2 days ago. c***s.
