Livingston vs Clyde

Barry's 3-5-2 was more of a 5-4-1 on todays showing but maybe thats understandable against a team from 2 leagues above. I do worry about us getting support forward this season though, gormley was very isolated at times. He did hold the ball up well though and was probably our best player on the day.

Both goals were strikes from distance with none of the 3 centre halfs coming out to close down. The goalkeeper looked at fault for at least the first of these and his handling and judgement were suspect throughout.

Higgins played very deep today and I wasn't hugely impressed with his contribution.

We won't play teams of as high a quality every week so think we will be very hard to beat but creativity and goal scoring (outside of set plays) could be an issue.

Two earlier goals from livi were in part contributed to some poor defending from us. We gave livi far too much time and space on the ball. For the first goal, the majority of the Clyde support was in agreement that the keeper made a mess of it. The ball was almost straight at him although there was a bit of swerve on the ball. Instead of standing his ground and punching the ball away he dived and threw a hand up to try and save it. He fumbled a couple of other catches but did make one decent save. He has some kick on him which would come in handy if we had a couple of players up front.

Gormley was pretty much isolated up front but he looked the part. He held the ball up well and turned the livi defence a few times. The livi number 5 should have been sent off after hauling down Gormley but it was debatable if it was in the box or not.

We offered no real attacking threat apart from at corners and free kicks. Mitchell's delivery was pretty decent the whole game and Bolo scored from our first corner. Almost every player in our squad is fairly tall so can see us scoring quite a few goals this way. Linton's long throw will come in handy too.

None of the other players really stood out one way or the other. Any ideas who the trialist on the bench was?

thought we did ok today Livingston are two leagues above us and we are still building from the hell of debt repayments thought gormley played well and will be a handful for 2 div teams didn't really think mclauchlin and Murray worked in midfield would prefer brisbane more central ,surprised marsh didn't start all in all we looked solid at the back and you coulent fault the effort

as for the goalie the jury is out on him at the moment first goal he looked as if he was trying to get out the road if it

mind you the alloa fans did warn us ????

Thought we played ok, reasonably comfortable throughout and Clyde posed no real threat from open play, although it was a different story from set pieces, that was where we did look uncomfortable defending the high ball.

We passed the ball about nicely, Gibbons running the show in the first half and Pittman done the same in the 2nd half, we lacked that poacher to finish off some good chances though and didn't make the most of good balls into the box and our posession but did more than enough to win today and that's what matters.

Clyde had a decent number of fans through today and made an effort to get a wee bit atmosphere going so well done guys, see you all in a week.

Well we certainly scored an early goal and got an early 2nd one too but Hippo trying the fancy stuff instead of just going for the diving header came back to bite us on the arse. 3-0 would've made it a comfortable afternoon but Clyde scoring from a corner made it a bit nervy near the end when they had a couple of throw ins and corners. Looked like that was the only place a goal could come from for them.

BF obv had them set out to stifle us in the final third when we got near their 18 yard line, thank feck they didn't bother much when we were about 30 yards out though. 2 crackers from Mullen and Hippo, the latter just keeps on scoring in the Petrofac cup.

Thought Hippo, Longridge and Gibbons played well, Sives got anything that came near him in the air in our half and Gordon too did pretty well, could do with hitting the bye line more though and trying to get in behind Clyde next week, absolutely no point firing high balls into the box from the diagonal as their CB's easily dealt with them. Would like to see us running at them down the wings more and putting in a bit of urgency with our passing when we get a chance to catch them with some players in our half, were far too slow moving it about allowing them to fall back into their own half and set up in formation again.

Wouldn't mind seeing Cole back fit for the next game, could do with his physical presence in midfield.

What's all this shit about Burchill calling clyde the biggest team in Europe? No surprise to read Gibson had a bad game either, expect that all season

Cause we are the biggest team in Europe.

We are also a very tall team.
