Andy Murray The Greatest and General Tennis Chat

John Lloyd is utterly shocked that Leonardo Mayer plays solid tennis.  I didn't think Mayer played anywhere near as good as the BBC are telling us, but he was far too solid for Dan Evans.  Evans gave away his serve cheaply at times, and couldn't really put the pressure on Mayer.

After pretty much everyone stating that can't believe that Del Potro didn't play, it seems that only one that knew he didn't need Del Potro to beat Evans was the Argentinian captain.  Fair play and I hope they win the final.

Spot on... John Lloyd discussing the final before the last match. Once mayer picked, Lloyd had got his airplane up from London.
The man is a cretin who kept tennis back in the UK for a decade. Murray totally right to tell him to fuk off many years ago. As for inverdale; how he holds onto his job is beyond me

Gotta give credit to Argentina thoroughly deserved the win. Must be gutting for Murray having put so much into all 3 matches and missed his grandfather's funeral. With the benefit of hindsight might have been better having Evans play pella. Edmund didn't really get going and the fact that Murray horsed him despite virtually playing one one leg n being gubbed shows pella was the nearest thing to a weak link in their team. Mayer showed why he has been ranked in the twenties. Ultimately the better team won.

ITF considering reducing Davis Cup to 3 sets and 2 days and playing finals in neutral cities (2-3yrs at a time).

Shame but spose something has to give when you see how knackered Murray was and how difficult it is to schedule between slams n masters. Neutral venue for final makes sense too.

Djokovic withdraws from the Beijing Open. This means he will lose 500 points have a 0 in one of his four other tournaments that count towards his ranking.  You would have to think his participation in the Shanghai Masters the week after is also under threat.

If Murray has a good end of year here.. he could probably make no 1 after Oz, if joker goes out early

At least he'll not need to worry about The Davis Cup, he needs to knock that on the head and concentrate on Grand Slams and trying for the top spot, even a short reign as No.1 would be amazing in this era of tennis.

Totally agree.
Wouldn't care if he was no 1 for only one wk, he'd still be no 1. Him too I'd say
