Inverness Caledonian Thistle v St Johnstone 24th October 2015

Recommended Posts

Both teams coming off defeats in matches they would have hoped to take something from, having shown signs of improvement after poor starts to the season. One point separates the sides, with both in the quarter-finals of the league cup. Inverness have struggled for goals this season, with 11 goals from their 11 fixtures to date. But then so had Partick Thistle! Saints have reversed last seasons low scoring defensive form so far, with 22 for and 19 goals against.

A match which has traditionally gone with the home team over the years. In the 14 matches played between the teams in Inverness, the record reads:

ICT 9 wins. 3 draws. Saints 2 wins.

Inverness started the season in poor form, scoring 0 goals and taking only 1 point from their first three matches at home. They turned it round with their last 2 at home being victories over title pretenders Hearts and Aberdeen.

Saints have struggled on the road this season, with 4 defeats in a row in the league prior to winning 5-1 at Aberdeen a few weeks ago.

On the selection front, the Inversneckie patrons can fill us in on the home side. Saints fans will be hoping Chris Millar will be back available to start in centre midfield, and this season's stand out player Michael O'Halloran starts after coming on at HT against Partick Thistle. The defence has looked a bit more settled, with Mackay and Scobbie the current partnership of choice, though we are yet to see a clean sheet this season! David Wotherspoon and Simon Lappin were both very poor against the Jags, and one or possibly both can have no complaints about being dropped for this one. A funny feeling if Chris Millar doesn't make it this Saturday that the manager will surprise us all and start Liam Caddis....

Might head to this, which means we'll lose. Last time I visited was last years 2-1 loss, where we only had the one shot on target, which was a header, which was scored, by Brian Graham.

If we allow Caley the amount of time on the ball we allowed Thistle we'll get utterly pumped, so we need to try and close them down quicker, especially Tansey.

Mannus

Shaughnessy - Mackay - Scobbie - Easton

Millar - Muzz

O'Halloran - Craig - Cummins

MacLean

Would do me fine.

Stop with the fucking hyperbolic hysterics again. Really is so bloody tedious.

All it took was a defeat to Partick and now the Saints fans are tearing each other to pieces. Hopefully we tip some of the rest of them over the edge on Saturday.

Our home form has been pretty decent of late, but St. Johnstone are unlikely to concede two goals or more two weeks in a row which means we'll have to be solid at the back to hopefully nick it. Our clean-sheet count must be well down on this time last season, so that may be unlikely, unfortunately.

You're right, I've just had a look and we won 1-0 there on a Wednesday night game in March 2012. Sandaza penalty. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/17455190

Those squads btw  Oyenuga, Compton and Keatings will be three of the hardest quiz answers in a decade or so
