SFSA Fan's Awards

Just over a year ago the Scottish Football Supporter’s Association (SFSA) was born to try to give fans an independent voice that had been so sadly lacking for many years.  We have been blown away by the response that we have had from ordinary fans and from so many fans groups and affiliate partners. We were also delighted to have been accepted into the fold at Fans Europe which gives us a fantastic network of like minded fans across Europe.

The progress has been swift and challenging for a voluntary run organisation which has been run without any major funding, but in some respects that fact has really helped show that we are a sustainable organisation with a future. In the coming months we will be updating you on new partnerships, events in Europe and of course how you can become even more involved as we roll out our business model which will be backed up by a series of pop up events.

However, before all that the SFSA, has launched a major new campaign to give fans the say in who and what should be recognised in Scottish football this season.

It seemed only appropriate that we should give supporters across Scotland the chance to have their say on the big talking points for season 2015-16.  Oddly, nobody has ever organised anything like the Fans’ Awards before. We also want to find the ‘fan or the year’, and we are asking supporters to contact us now with nominations for a fan who really goes that extra mile to support their club. We have seen what a huge success our colleagues south of the Border in the Football Supporters Federation have had with their annual fans’ award event. So it only seems appropriate that we start to generate that enthusiasm in Scotland, too. The categories for the first ever Scottish Fans’ Awards will be both fun and serious… with the supporters’ votes for best referee sure to be one of the talking points!

So give us your nominations across a range of categories from now until 21st May and an event will be held in Glasgow on 29th of May. The idea is that it will tour the country in subsequent years. A more detailed announcement of the Glasgow event will be made shortly where a limited amount of tickets will be available at a cost of just £5.00.

So just click on this link to participate and remember to encourage everyone to do so no matter who they support www.scottishfsa.org/awards16
