mizfit
Aberdeen have offered Shaughnessy a contract.Didn’t see that coming. Presume Wright was aware of something hence sorting out Gordon’s future just in case. Hoping he decides to stick with us, considering the lack of opportunity Aberdeen gave him prior.

I think he'll be going, tbh. Aberdeen can easily pay more than us, and he'll be guaranteed a start either ahead of the injury prone Devlin, or if McKenna is sold, I'm not sure what would keep him here. Right back to replace Logan, knowing McInnes and his complete inability to actually scout players, rather than just signing them because everyone says they've played well, before signing them.

He's been terrible this season and his development seems to have stalled big time due to injury. Hopefully he can kick on again.
Dons_1988
So we’ve ‘maybe’ offered him a contract, he will ‘maybe’ accept it and McInnes will ‘maybe’ play him at right back. Calm down lads.

Calm down lads. You've offered him a deal, there's no doubt about that. You could easily double the wages we can offer.
The Woolshed
If he signs then at least we can give Liam & Jason a go till the end of the season
PauloPerth
The Aberdeen offer, if true, must be a PCA to move in the summer?
RandomGuy.
Just now, PauloPerth said: The Aberdeen offer, if true, must be a PCA to move in the summer? Correct. They've offered Shaughnessy and Halkett contracts.

Radford
Saints will push the boat out to keep Shaughnessy but obviously it would be hard to offer a deal comparable with a club that has a much bigger budget. From a footballing point of view, he needs to be careful. He plays every game for a manager who rates him very highly, with the added prestige of captaining the team. He's part of a settled unit that brings the best out of them all. Going back to work under a man that didn't rate him previously hardly seems the most logical move. He needs to bear that in mind rather than just look at it as returning to Aberdeen FC.

Certainly ties in with Liam Gordon signing up for two years as a few of us thought. Still hope Joe tells them to ram it. It would be a shame to lose one of our key players for nothing, when he is at a good age and a very sellable asset. Did we miss a trick not extending his deal 6-12 months ago? Hindsight is a wonderful thing I suppose.

That's a positive spin on what's probably going to be bad news.

On the flip side he'll be going back a far better and more developed footballer who should be able to cope with the demands of playing with inferior players to Jason Kerr and Shagger Tanser.
