Wales kinda remind me of Portugal's "Golden Era".

Decent keeper (Ricardo or Victor Baia/Wayne Hennessey)

Two good solid centre backs (Carvalho and Andrade/Williams and Collins)

No nonsense full backs who can get forward and support the wingers (Ferrera, Valente, Miguel/Davies, Gunter, Taylor)

Decent central midfield trio (Maniche, Deco + 1/Allen, Ramsey + 1)

One world class player who is their main creative player and main goal scorer (Figo/Bale)

Absolute mung upfront whose only real job is to keep centre backs out of the way of the attacking midfielders (Pauleta/Robson-Kanu)

Portugal obviously had a bit more depth around them but if Wales stay clear of injuries and suspensions they'll do alright I reckon. Pace to counter attack, intelligent midfielders to pick the right passes, settled and solid back five.

Hope they hammer England

Having +1 instead of Rui Costa and saying basically the same as the Welsh midfield. Hell naming Deco and Maniche but failing to remember Rui Costa. O...k... then.

Nuno Gomes>Pauleta.

Yes. And guess which one is named in their Golden Generation. Hint, it's not Pauleta. But then again Deco nor Maniche are part of the Golden Generation either. Nor is Ricardo. In fact most of them are not what is classed as Portugal's Golden Generation.

Wales have produced several players better than we have in the last twenty years.

Pretty embarrassing considering how small it is plus the big rugby following. We should be ashamed that Wales and Northern Ireland qualified and we didn't.

We resorted to kicking them off the park and still got pumped. A total joke of a side, a zero man team since the 80s.

What's wholly ironic is that Wales have probably got three of the greatest-ever footballers never to appear in a finals in Rush, Hughes and Giggs, all of whom were in direct competition at club level (positionally) with comparitive nobodies who made them regularly with Scotland (think Sharp, McInally and Pat Nevin). The other 'greatests' would obviously be Best and Litmanen.
