gy diamond
Where was he? Solihull Moors? Yes, took Solihull up to the Conference last year. Almost everyone I have spoke to and all the Grimsby fans on Twitter are really excited about this appointment. He was really well thought of at Solihull and seems to be on his way up instead of the usual appointments in that league of people dropping down just looking for one last pay day. Also worked with Omar Bogle at Solihull so hopefully can get the best out of him.
The Naitch
A few four figure crowds but otherwise another night of very low attendances across the checkatrade cup games.Surely the EFL realise it's a load of shite and revert to the old format next season. gy diamond
Stoke's under 23 boss before last nights game where he named Peter Crouch, Bojan and £15 million pound man Imbula. It's all for the benefit of young English players though. Also his comments about the attendances in the group stage 'never being great' considering this is the first year that we've had group stages. The Naitch
There were just over 300 at the West Brom game with 9 away fans. Joke crowd for a joke competition.
NorthernLights
Draw for the EFL Trophy has been made. A few all U23/Academy ties, those should attract some incredibly low attendances. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37936600

HibeeJibee
So basically the EFL were saying to the FA that they would only take it forward if the FA Cup went midweek - so thankfully the FA told them to do one. I was sceptical if they'd any real chance of getting 90% of clubs to vote for it anyway. Dropping 4 home games out of 23 would be a bit financial hit - especially in the lower divisions - even if you got a couple more of the remaining 19 on weekends. It would mean poorer FA Cup crowds too. As importantly it meant adding 8 more clubs to share central revenue and 4 > 8 > 12 fewer clubs in existing tiers 2 > 3 > 4, which would've made smaller clubs in each level nervous. Incidentally, in the part about who the 8 extra clubs could have been, article states the EFL CEO "had not ruled out" inviting Rangers & Celtic to join their new League Three. Whether that's true or not, his clubs did so at a meeting a couple of months ago - they categorically rejected any consideration of B teams / non-English teams. Poor journalism not to say that.
