Herman Hessian
contrasting fortunes for a couple of scottish youth internationals in the coppa italia this weekend; liam henderson made his debut for Hellas in a 4-1 win over juve stabia, getting absolutely rave reviews in the process and setting up two of the goals; harvey st clair (previously in the chelsea set up) played for venezia who lost 0-1 at home to SudTirol - poor result given that the team was pretty much the same as that which lost in the play-off semi final to palermo at the end of last season - not just a lashed up squad of youngsters and reserves elsewhere, not many surprises other than pisa winning at cremonese, and lanerossi vicenza virtus taking palermo to penalties, but then losing (meh); there are a few of the serie a teams involved the next round; sampdoria v viterbese castrense SPAL v spezia sassuolo v ternana parma v pisa empoli v cittadella udinese v benevento torino v cosenza frosinone v sud tirol genoa v lecce or feralpi salo bologna v padova chievo v pescara cagliari v palermo hellas will be facing Catania who are making the long trip north from sicily serie B fixtures supposedly out tomorrow (monday 6th); but crotone are urging the authorities to postpone their first two games, and also chievo's first two in serie A, so that a resolution can be finalised for chievo's "dodgy money" case (all tied up with the same issue that has seen cesena liquidated); if they lose, they'll be relegated and crotone promoted back to the top flight Edited August 6, 2018 by Herman Hessian

Clearly they won't be staying with anything like the same number of games if they've got several other leagues, and it's over a week. Herman Hessian
round three of the Coppa Italia this weekend, and a few more interesting results than in the competition to date; Benevento - likely to be real front-runners in Serie B - won 1-0 at Udinese on saturday night; Hellas Verona sent a distinctly second string side all the way to Sicily and needn't have bothered, losing pathetically 0-2 to Catania; Serie C's Pisa and Sud Tirol win away to top flight Parma and Frosinone respectively, and Empoli lose heavily at home to Serie B Cittadella Meanwhile, the 19 team Serie B row rumbles on, with everyone other than the league's officials themselves thinking that it's a shite idea; legal action threatened by all and sundry, clubs warning of civil disobedience and insurrection - and complete silence on the matter from the FIGC, but then they're only supposed to be in charge of the national game, so that makes perfect sense; fixtures now supposed to be out on Tuesday, but the whole thing is a complete shambles so not really sure why they are bothering...
Herman Hessian
well - fixtures out, first round of games to be played on 25/08 - but a definitive meeting now scheduled for 7th September - which may add three further teams to the league, which will have already started the Genoese bridge-building community can rest easy, knowing that they're not the biggest set of incompetents in italy.... ETA - Italian Association of Footballers - basically the player's union - set to announce a strike on Monday; main complaint, rather than being relevant to any particular clubs, is that they are now expected to play in a league where the management have just ridden roughshod over their own guidelines and protocols, and feel able to randomly impose whatever rules and regulations they like... Mr. Brightside
On a free would surely be a good signing for most clubs.Yeah I was wondering if they done the “mutual terminating” thing so an English club, like Chelsea, could sign him.
craigkillie
I don't think English clubs would be allowed to sign a player who was released after their window closed.

I thought the Free Agent deadline was usually a couple of months after the transfer deadline (based purely on Football Manager knowledge)
