Sadly for those wanting to go to the Pars v QP match and the Scotland game the same day, Dunfermline have insisted that the game goes ahead at 3.00pm, despite QP's attempts to have the game brought forward.

Utter nonsense.

We should probably still make it back in time, but yer right, a 1pm or even 2pm ko would have been better. Wee swally on the supporters' bus then

Oh diddums. We are quite right to have the kick off at 3pm, it is of course the preferable time, that's why it's used for pretty much every single weekend fixture not moved for TV.

Even taking into account extra traffic over 2 1/2 hours is plenty of time to get to Hampden for the exhibition match.

Just go to the Scotland game then and save your money for the pub. It's really not a difficult choice.

Are you lads fighting over who's the biggest arse?  A simple accommodation for fans would be to have the game at 2.00pm.

Anyway, hopefully we'll pump you.

He has a point though. The game is at Dunfermline not Dingwall. Even if it goes to extra time you've enough time to get to Hampden before kick off if you want to.

The 3pm kick-off has it's roots in a time when Saturday mornings were a standard part of the working week for blue collar workers. Noon was when the hooter went and the factory/mine/shipyard would empty. As the game was largely followed by the working class and pubs stopped serving at 2pm, with just a 10 minute drink-up time, and with most clubs not having floodlights, 3pm was the optimum time to leave work, have a swally, walk to the game, stand in a big queue to get in and hopefully see the game finish before it got dark. When conveniently pubs opened at 5pm.

i suspect the 3pm kick-off today is more important for those who want to watch the SKY lunchtime game and have to do the big shop with the bidey in the morning.

Thanks due to Dunfermline though for sensible pricing.
