Granny Danger
Corbyn still pushing for a GE. It would be hilarious to have one for ‘clarity’ on Brexit as both the Labour and Tory manifestos would be a guddle of compromise and waffle. Neither party could produce a clear manifesto position that would have backing of a large majority of their current MPs.

It’s absolutely Ireland’s fault that, like Luxembourg and the Netherlands, they exploit loopholes in tax law to do other EU member states out of revenue though. Ireland and the EU are quite obviously in the right over the backstop, in the face of intransigence to the point of lunacy from the UK. That undeniably being the case doesn’t mean we should take an uncritical view of everything Ireland does, and their government’s overt encouragement of agressive tax avoidance by the likes of Amazon is disgraceful.
DeeTillEhDeh
and so on.The difference is though that those were deals to keep a member sweet - I doubt very much they are going to come up with a deal for a member who is still leaving.

The Irish are perfectly entitled to have a tax system that meets their needs. Just as every other country is. The world is a competitive place.

But is it right to then use that criticism to explain why Italy and Greece are on their arses economically? Greece were underreporting their national deficit for YEARS before the 2008 crash, combine that with the fact they were not bothering their arses with collecting €20billion in tax revenue then it's a bit silly to then point the finger at Ireland for "doing them out of" revenue.

MONKMAN
Is it illegal? No, that would be tax evasion. It doesn’t make it any less wrong, morally.

Speaking about countries like they're people doesn't help though. Thousands of Greeks and Italians were being shafted by those in power (I'm not sure why I've went past tense there).
AUFC90
Ireland give the likes of Intel a tax break coz they employ thousands in very well paid jobs. It's not as cut and dry as giving them tax breaks for nothing.
