Royal Albert 1-3 Larkhall Thistle.

Congratulations to The Jags committee, for getting Gaswork Park looking in fine condition to stage an exciting (away)cup tie against local rivals Royal Albert.
Albert started the game well, & were unlucky on a few occasions not to take an early lead.
Jags went in front when Graham Gracie demonstrated good strength & skill to hold off half the Albert defence, make himself some room to slam the ball home from the 6yd line, after 12mns.
Good left wing play by Jags David Reid caused problems for the Albert defence & the unlucky Fraser Stobbie forced the ball into his own net to deny the onrushing Graham Gracie.

Albert 0-2 Jags HT

Scott Nicol put his side under a bit of pressure when he received a straight Red Card for lashing out at an Albert player early in the 2nd half.
Jags lost another player soon after for a very clumsy challenge.
Albert introduced Barry Murdoch & his skill, & vision was causing the Jags problems.
He hit a free kick from 25yds, which looked net bound which Jags goalie Stewart Thomson did well to keep out, only for Allan Campbell to head home from close range.
Albert were denied a late equaliser, when an astonishing double save from Stewart Thomson kept Jags in front.
Soon after Jags Graham Gracie made a run up the left wing from the half way line, & cut the ball back for Mark Canning to tap home from a couple of yards.

Official Gary Logan handled the game very well. Decent attendance around 400.

N here we thought whitletts would win the lot this season , oh shucks

Superb, after getting a draw against a big team like Ardrossan, your 1st thought is to slag Whitletts. Scottish is meaningless to us wee teams, we'll concentrate on trying to get out the ADL

Thanks V. Was a good day for the town.

Fair report Larky 55 we played the better football but didn't score when we were on top Larkhall first goal was avoidable as we had chances to clear the ball..  Overall  the draw was the least we deserved but the double save by the keeper was the turning point of the game at 2-1 if we score then we win the game.

The second sending off was a bit harsh, booking definently but not a red card.

Albert lacked a bit of experience when Larkhall went down to nine men, were as Larkhall brought experienced players on who helped them see the game out.

A lot of good things for the Albert from the game plus another bit more experience for the younger players in the team.

Decent crowd but were are they next week.

If anyone's interested:

FT: Aberdeen East End 0 Lochee United 6

A superb second half showing saw the Bluebells progress to the next round of the Scottish Cup at the expense of North League side Aberdeen East End.

The final scoreline of 0-6 was perhaps a bit harsh on the Aberdeen club who play in the shadow of Pittodrie Stadium, particularly after a first half in which they matched the visitors for effort if not skill.

Leading by a single Bryan Deasley penalty at the break, Lochee stepped up a gear and ran out convincing winners in the end.

With the wind at their backs at kick-off the home side were clearly up for the game and gave the visitors a fright as early as the ninth minute. A Dougie Cameron passback to Paul Lunan found the central defender unaware that East End’s Callum Dunbar was right on his shoulder and the centre forward beat Lunan to the ball and bore down on the Lochee goal. Fortunately, keeper Mark Fotheringham was more alert than his team mate and raced out to tackle the striker on the edge of the box and clear the danger.

As far as threats to his goal were concerned, that was about it for Fonzy for the rest of the afternoon as Lochee dominated proceedings from thereon in.

They got the breakthrough on 20 minutes when Lunan and Scott McComiskie sent Cameron down the left and his cross struck the arm of the unfortunate Lewis Masson to give the visitors a penalty.

DEASLEY stepped up and gave keeper Rhys Leiper no chance with a well-placed shot to the keeper’s left.

McComiskie then had a go from the edge of the box but the keeper saved easily and Lunan got his head to a Deasley corner as Lochee dominated without looking like adding to their lead.

Cameron was next to fire wide but the hard working East End hit on the break and Dunbar broke clear only to send his shot wide.

Deasley and McComiskie were combining well up front and, from a McComiskie pass, Deasley cut inside and fired just wide of the target.

Graham Hay and his defenders, particularly Greg Kirk, were having to work hard to contain East End’s lively young winger, Seyon Koshedo, and Lochee were certainly in need of a second goal to quell the enthusiasm of the home side.

They almost got it on the stroke of half time when a Stephen McNally free kick was touched on to McComiskie whose effort was diverted past for a corner.

East End, no doubt encouraged by the fact that they were only one behind, came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and won a free kick on the edge of the Lochee box. Little Koshedo took the kick and Fonzy had to be alert to turn it over for a corner kick.

Another couple of corners were won by the home side but Lochee weathered the storm.

Ten minutes in, the writing was on the wall for the homesters when Lochee went further ahead. McNally put the ball into the box and, after a couple of half-hearted attempts to clear, the ball fell to Reece RITCHIE about 10 yards out and he drilled it home.

Five minutes later, the Bluebells should have had another penalty when Deasley went down in the box, but, astonishingly, the officials saw nothing wrong in the challenge.

However, the third goal wasn’t long in coming. Again, McNally put the ball into the area and McComiskie crossed for Kris ROLLO to head home on 65 minutes.

Three minutes later, it was all over bar the shouting. A brilliant Deasley cross from the left was met by the inrushing McCOMISKIE who easily guided the ball into the net.

With 20 minutes left, manager George Shields made a double substitution, sending on Paul Blackwood and Phil Hagan for Ross Gallacher and Reece Ritchie. Five minutes later he sent on Jamie Montgomery for Dougie Cameron.

A minute later, the Deasley-McComiskie partnership struck again, with Deasley finding Mc COMISKIE whose shot went in off the post.

That wasn’t the end of the scoring, though, as Deasley and Kirk combined down the left to set up DEASLEY to sidefoot the ball home with five minutes left.

Aberdeen East End: Leiper, Masson, Donald, Mark Adam, Rennie (Murray Adam 77), Todd, Koshedo (Henderson 75), Jopp (Petrie 66), Dunbar, Wilson, Youngson. Sub not used: Johnstone.

Lochee United: Fotheringham, McNally, Hay, Lunan, Kirk, Gallacher (Hagan 70), Ritchie (Blackwood 70), Rollo, Cameron (Montgomery 75), Deasley, McComiskie. Subs not used: Cargill, Clarkson.
