gingette
What do people want to happen if Trump is impeached and removed from office? Put it this way he's in my dead pool team this year [emoji6]
welshbairn
Trump talking now about opening up mental institutions again to put the "sickos" in and take them off the streets. The shooter in Florida was clearly unbalanced but was holding down a job. Are they going to round up everyone who seems a bit odd and lock them up?
HTG
Does the NRA actually run America? It's time these c***s were told to sit down and shut the f**k up. Remember when the tobacco lobby was "all powerful". Well it's not now. Get the NRA in the sea - the boy on BBC news more or less just indicated that gun reform wouldn't be acceptable to the NRA. Boo fucking hoo.
killiepiemuncher
The NRA has bought and paid the Republican Party. Trump himself got $30million in contributions for the elections. Nothing will happen in the US regarding gun control.

Never going to happen.
Loondave1
Most of my teachers were mental nervous wrecks. Not sure why. I certainly wouldn't trust them with guns. Yes. Only a matter of time before teacher goes postal and hands out a few bullets round the class.

Nothing will happen in the US regarding gun control. If these fuckers get voted out in November, or arrested not long after, I could see some considerable movement on gun control. These Florida kids give me a great deal of hope.

dorlomin
Even among trained soldiers who are specifically conditioned to try to kill, its common for them to unconsciously aim to miss or not fire. The Napoleonic wars would have thick ranks of men standing near enough to each other to shout and be heard but when they fired a volley on a few men would drop. Since then soldiers have been trained to get used to blood and shooting at humans but its only partially successful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killology The theory is that about 10% of humans are psychopaths who can kill or harm without major psychological harm to themselves, these are the hereos and monsters of tradition. Its not about being good or bad just some people have a filter removed. One can see how it worked both ways in evolution, actual killing capability in humans is rare but exists. UK police have it best. Very specialist fire arms teams who are trained to do the deed with precision. Teachers? Jesus more likely to fire 3 shots in the air with their eyes closed than do some damage to a loon with an AR-15. Worth adding, one of the advantages of fire arms is the noise, when automatic fire starts going off its fucking terrifying. Bit of training and you can listen for the "crack pop" and pick where the fire is coming from, but first time you hear autofire, jesus wept its pants filling. If the first time you hear it its aimed at you? God alone knows. In short I do not think teachers with guns will help much unless you get lucky and one of them is either a) a vet b) one of natures psychopaths.

mjw
Teacher from lasts weeks school shooting just interviewed on MSNBC and he was totally against carrying a gun. They don't pay me enough to be a teacher never mind doing that was his reply.
Zetterlund
It's clearly a completely ludicrous idea and one that only Americans could even consider. As Dorlomin suggests, in the real world if some nutjob starts shooting up a school, a teacher with a gun will be just as scared as everyone else. If something like Florida happened again but with armed teachers on campus, they would probably be crucified in the media for' failing to protect the kids'.
