How was this to our 'shame' here?  What did we do wrong?

Absolutely nothing Kinc, Neely was sacked immediately by the club (Souness) after his inappropriate comments came to light and reported to the Police.

Only after a Policeman DEMANDED a meeting.

The Club had done absolutely wrong, the guy was punted immediately. It's certainly not something to try a feeble point scoring over. It's just wrong, irrespective of the club involved.

How was a monster like Jim McCafferty able to get away with what he did for SIX years as a Kit Man at Celt*c Park?
These are not allegations btw, they are a full admission from the guy himself. Was that in any way the fault of your club, given the history of such behaviour previously!? You tell me?

Thank God you're not trying to "feebly point score over this"

It isn't point scoring, it doesn't f*ckin matter which football club was involved.
But surely its a concern that this behaviour continued well into the 90's given the safeguards that should have been in place on previous experience.
Wouldn't you say the same about any other organisation/institution !?

Just a shame Rangers kept it quiet, no investigation ,no contact with Hibs about it...or a lot if victims may have came forward at the time, and he would have seen justice.

How did Rangers 'keep it quiet' the fact that he was sacked by the club and the Police involved was information open to the public domain at the time no!?

You'll have proof of this public domain evidence then?

Yep, how ironic after years and years of the "big Jock knew" patter, that the old Rangers are the first Scottish club to be named and shamed in this fresh wave of pervert coaches!

The first club to be named is Hibs actually

Rangers and Hearts we're founded simply as football clubs.  Hibs and Celtic we're founded as clubs for Irish Catholics and therefore started this bigotry that almost 150 years later still exists in football.

totally disagree with that, they were started because of the struggle irish catholics went through back then, almost like a refuge for them.

Why wouldn't it be open information if the police demanded (as you say) the opportunity to investigate. Another conspiracy theory!?

Have a blood hungry media seized upon this and suggested impropriety within the club, if not why not?

The guy was brought to book and then immediately sacked for his comments. I don't see what your problem is. Other than trying to point score and fabricate a 'cover up' that doesn't exist.

Just a clear deflection from the inability to answer my original question!

He was immediately sacked? Yet the father had to DEMAND a meeting?

Rangers and you are the ones making these claims, simply back them up please.

:also you can't get sacked for allegations ,only if they are found to be true so the claim that he was immediately sacked means there was no investigation

(hush hush)

:and if Rangers have "only just become aware of these allegations" and Smith and Souness were unavailable for comment, how do we know the police were called and he was sacked?

So after decades of criticising Rangers fans for using the abhorrent abuse of young boys to point score, Celtic fans are, erm, using the abhorrent abuse of young boys to point score.

Fucking scumbags.

Surprised to see you upset with The Bigot brothers tbh.

So it was the Father that DEMANDED a meeting? I thought you said it was the Police, make your mind up, are you just making this up as you go along?
The Club became aware of the allegations and acted upon them immediately, neither you nor I know what investigations took place, suffice to say if the allegations were unproven, surely Neely would have contested and pursued a case for unfair dismissal?
Whether the Police then chose to prosecute or not was entirely up to them, nothing to do with the club, (other than to cooperate in providing available evidence) they had already taken the appropriate action, as you would expect ALL clubs to do? If there was a suspected 'hush up' at Ibrox, the press would be all over it wouldn't they?
You're just pissing into the wind pal.

Fair nuff.

My concern is more the way it was handled by Level 5.

Story gonna break re Neely and hibs but with an old club connection.

Day before and "whatdoyoukno" , Walter and Souey sacked him on the spot despite no charges and the weans dad being a pig.

Best guess is that Neely was a fiddler at hibs, and told the boy at Ibrox 'I'm a Catholic'.
