ICTChris
A judge in a civil action has ruled that David Goodwillie and David Robertson raped a woman in a flat in Armadale. They have been ordered to pay £100,000 in damages. The judge said that they were both unreliable witnesses. https://stv.tv/news/east-central/1378283-footballer-david-goodwillie-raped-woman-at-flat-judge-rules/

You can't send someone to jail because they "probably" did something, but you can empty their pocket. I guess, though, the disparity makes little difference in cases like this where the label is arguably worse than the punishment. In any case, their footballing careers are surely over. ICTChris
Plymouth have a goalkeeper who killed two children while drink driving, what justification can they have for releasing a player who has had a civil ruling against him and keeping LUke McCormick? Plymouth have now confirmed they won't be selecting Goodwillie "until they read the full report". Which I think is a euphemism for "cheerio". He was released after his conviction, which would probably be considered the equivalent. Whether or not McCormick should have been re-signed following his incarceration is a different matter. There is an argument to suggest that he is entitled to go about his job following his rehabilitation. Some people may argue that he is not entitled to the high profile life he enjoys as a footballer considering the crime in question. It's a very difficult situation. ICTChris
That's a good point. Difficulty is that Goodwillie hasn't been convicted and so can't 'serve his time' and be rehabilitated. Is this the end of his career?
Podlie
Expecting a " The player is both surprised and upset by the Judgement and, on discussing the matter in detail, it is clear to us that the player has not been involved in any such incident, so as he didn't bite the lassie we welcome him back"..............................from Tannadump shortly. ICTChris
He's been fairly nondescript for Plymouth, making the decision easier. Imagine someone like Ronaldo or Neymar was accused like this. Zero chance they'd be released.
Sarto Mutiny
He's been fairly nondescript for Plymouth, making the decision easier. Imagine someone like Ronaldo or Neymar was accused like this. Zero chance they'd be released. That's it. The player is not a real asset to the club, so they will probably get rid. If he'd (say) scored 20 goals this season, the decision becomes more difficult. Football clubs are not moral.
