Moses McNeil
Heard from a 100% reliable source that Kelty Hearts have decided to join the pyramid and see how far they can go. Obviously they will be starting at the bottom and are expected to be playing in the East of Scotland League from next season while they go through the licencing process.

I assume that one of the other clubs must be Bo'ness United, whose's Manager has gone public about his aspiration for LL membership. Who are the 3rd club ? Haddington Athletic or someone else ? Also the EoSL will be strengthened next season by relegated Preston Athletic, and also by Selkirk, if Buckie Thistle defeat East Kilbride, followed by a win against Cowdenbeath or Berwick or Clyde in the SPFL/SLL play-off next month.
LongTimeLurker
The second one to go public about the possibility is Bo'ness United on their website. http://www.bonessunited.co.uk/bu-considering-move-seniors/ http://www.bonessunited.co.uk/the-future-is-bright/ ...Bo’ness United want to be part of the pyramid, Scottish football is evolving and we truly believe that there will be significant changes. We want to be at the forefront of change whether that be playing in the East of Scotland League, The Lowland league or with the Juniors if they become part of a revised pyramid that encompasses all clubs. There are big decisions to be made for us as a club, and any decisions about moving will be voted on accordingly. We will assess as a club what opportunities are available which will benefit both the club and the community. We will update supporters when information is available... Someone else on the third. Have been told who it is, but they should be the ones to spill the beans rather than some random anonymous poster on a website passing on third hand info.
parsforlife
Preston possibly Selkirk and the junior 3 would put the league up to 16, possibly puts reconstruction on the table if a mass switchover from juniors is triggered.
LongTimeLurker
Time will tell. I still have a hard time believing this could ever get through a junior club's AGM. Kelty are a relatively recently formed club that weren't around when today's OAP generation were children back in the 1950s, so it might be easier for them.
Burnie_man
I'm not convinced any club the size of Kelty and Boness would leave for the EoS, too big a risk if several move at the same time, they can't all go upto the LL and spending more than one season in the EoS is a risk. I think this is more to do with applying pressure on the SJFA to get off their arses and get serious about the pyramid.
stanley
It would be great to see a big junior club like Kelty Hearts join the East of Scotland League next season but it's hard to see it happening. Not impossible but it'd be a big step for them to take. If only one big club does it then it's not a huge risk as it should be a fairly easy route up to the Lowland League. If a few did it at once then things would get a lot more complicated. Anyone know when the AGM is or when applications need to be made by? If several move at the same time it's less of a risk surely, you'd be playing the same opponents as you were in the Juniors but in a different league. -

But not that many will move, remember that only Linlithgow are currently licenced in the East Juniors and in a position to be promoted to the LL, however I doubt they are going to set the precedent by moving first. If Kelty and Bo'ness move, one of them will have at least two seasons in the EoS which is a big risk.

It's not a big risk... Financially, these clubs will be better off as they will be gaining from Scottish Cup and SFA License revenue they wouldn't have got in the Juniors... Also, as more teams move, there will be more ex-Junior sides in the EoS meaning that old rivalries can be re-commenced

Also, as more teams move, there will be more ex-Junior sides in the EoS meaning that old rivalries can be re-commenced IMO this is all about forcing the SJFA to engage positively with the Pyramid and hopefully moving as a whole into it and maintaining old rivalries. An increasing number of clubs want that to happen.Integration will happen eventually, but not the way you envisage. The EoS is pretty much a dead duck and a massive risk for any big Junior club to move into. There's a reason why Craigroyston and Easthouses moved the other way, and other clubs may follow.
Wile E Coyote
At the moment Kelty and Bo'ness have the squads to walk the EOS but for the most part players are mercenaries with no club ties so whose to say the current players would stay with them to drop down a level to play. They could easily move to another Junior club for the same wages and play at a higher level.. Of course they will probably have a financial advantage over other clubs in the EOS so may be able to recruit other players that will still give them a competitive advantage

Burnie_man
If Bo'ness go Linlithgow will follow rather quickly imo. Quite possibly, but there's only one promotion spot per season into LL, and therein lies the risk.If Kelty, Bo'ness and Linlithgow all jump, one of them will have at least two seasons playing Burntisland, Tweedmouth and Spartans Reserves.

edinabear
I still find it odd that some are dead against the idea of premiership colt clubs playing in the pyramid and yet we have Stirling uni reserves there!

A fair point, and also Hibs U20's not so long ago. If they want it to happen it will happen regardless of the opinions of non-league clubs. If it opens up the LL to reform which would also entice Junior clubs, then go for it.
