If you have between 600k and 700k net migration (legal and illegal) into the country every year then it's a massive problem on public services, housing, education, and the big one in the near future, water.

A bigger problem for public services is that since legislation was tightened, visa applications to work in the care sector have fallen by more than 50%

And of that 600k net migration, only 30k are crossing the Channel illegally so the majority are either coming to work and pay taxes, or to study and pay fees to keep the tertiary education sector afloat.

I'm in England every week and it's been the no 1 topic for a while now speaking to locals in the North East. I feel lucky to live in sparsely populated Ayrshire tbh. England has been a tinderbox for years now.

I do agree though that football is escapism for 90 minutes and we really should be focusing here on the promising start we've made.

If you aren’t building council houses, have a bloated private landlord network  and have for profit water companies not investing in infrastructure but paying dividends, it’s not an immigration issue.

Airdrie as a club need to do a lot more, as the clubs stock rises, there will be journalists itching to highlight this stuff.
It’ll affect sponsorship and all sorts.

Fairly certain that to get a job in Scottish journalism, especially Scottish football journalism, you have to be literally incapable of discerning what a man wearing a union jack and performing a roman salute is doing.

Maybe if the government didn't make it f**king illegal for refugees to work that would help.

Bollocks to politics, there’s a forum for this.

If you tolerate this, then your children will be next.

I’m not arsed about the religious banners at Somerset, but it does leave the potential that the club could be leaving its self open to claims of discrimination if it doesn’t accept advertising from other church groups or religions.

Why wouldn't it accept advertising from other church groups or religions? Not that the cultural melting pot that is the south west coast has much in the name of holy wars these days.

I didn’t say it wouldn’t.
Maybe more likely under a previous Chairman though

I just saw the advertising hoarding chat. To be quite honest so long as it's tepid COS outreach stuff and not Scientology or advertising pregnancy counselling services or anything then who cares. I don't imagine Derek Stillie was especially happy for the club to have big SNP signs at the corner flag, though maybe that's a good thing.

Just thinking back to when we were on our school lunch breaks we always needed to detour down River Street so one of my pals could pick up free condoms from the church along from the Black Bull.

When it comes to political advertising I think it's very sensible to have the MP and MSPs advertising with their contact details etc but it should be on the blank style that is used for that.  There shouldn't be anything further from politicians or political parties IMO.

On the wider point about keeping politics out of football, it's impossible.  All the waiting around for Bangala and ghost stuff for example, or the fact we are (fortunately) still at Somerset Park and not Heathfield, it cannot be avoided.

The club has done a lot over the last few years to deal with this kind of stuff by issuing banning orders etc. Think that’s why a lot of us were caught off guard by it but just shows there is still work to be done. I’d be shocked if it was seen again in airdrie.

This.  The football should be an escapism from all the day to day shite of politics/religion/racism we have to put up with in this country.

Football is also about community though, and our local community also includes people that are being racially targeted in England.

It is important that as a club we are known to be a club for the entire community.

I’d be more worried if Hibs came in for him

no chance he’s going to Raith

Not entirely surely why there is interest in Brown. So far so good at keeping us up last season, and decent start to this campaign, but he’s still got a lot to prove.

Will need clarified if that is Scott Brown the Raith player or Scott Brown the Ayr manager

I did wonder that, but that would even more mental sacking Murray to replace him with Scott Brown the Raith player?!

Scott Browns stock is absolutely zero and he’s proved very little on the grand scheme of things to anyone on the outside. If I was a Hibs or Celtic fan, taking Brown on would be a concern right now.

Internally, we can see how much he has brought the team and some players on but also the quality of some of the signings he’s identified.

He stays in Lanarkshire, if Raith offered him more money, would it be enough to compensate for his travel and ripping up the work he’s started, a complete non-starter.

He’s been given some of the tools he’s asked for and the club has changed a lot of things to suit him so I don’t think he’d be in a rush to move. It looks like he is elbows deep in a job he’s committed to doing. Would he have the same freedom and support at Hibs?

I think he’ll be here until the end of the season at the very least.

I'm no concerned about Brown going to Raith Rovers, it sounded between the lines like they were already down the road with appointing a new manager in their interview last night (carpeted walls, what the hell).
