Staggie_93
When I first played this I did think what in the name of f**k is this. But, it has definitely grown on me a bit, depends what mood your in too I suppose. Quite like Four Out Of Five, She Looks Like Fun, Goldentrunks and The Ultracheese. Least it’s different too I guess. Savage Henry
I will make no comment on this album until I hear "Savage Henry"'s thoughts on it. Okay. But you’re not going to like it. See below. Turner’s a twat. I have a very hard time getting past Alex Turner’s constant laddish sarcasm and his punchable face to get into his music. Also, Bad Habits by The Last Shadow Puppets is possibly the worst song ever recorded by anyone. So I have a natural bias against this record from the start, and shall refrain accordingly from a review.
conboyhibs
the Ultracheese is bloody brilliant, as is Star Treatement
SweeperDee
Think the middle of the album suffers a bit, but the first few tunes and the end stretch are brilliant.

JamieT1314
Went for a drive today and listened to it twice through, didnt really notice it was on but never wanted to turn it off which is a good sign. Its good background music.

SweeperDee
I got strong Stanley Kubrick vibes from that video, which can only be a good thing really. Very high production quality, can’t really begin to decipher it though. [emoji23]
MONKMAN
Listened through for a second time, still think it’s shite. Also, Turner is a twat.

Mr. Brightside
Having listened to the album another couple of times I have come to the conclusion that it's far from being rubbish, it's just wholly nondescript. Nothing on it stands out at all, it's easy enough to listen to, but that is about the highest compliment I can pay it. In my opinion where it truly falls down is if you're listening on Spotify and let it run through onto AM, straight away it grabs you with two belters and doesn't really stop., undeniably a better album. Whilst it's unrealistic to expect an artist to continue to throw out the same stuff like running about Sheffield and scrapping, the Arctic Monkeys have always moved their sound on, Favourite Worst Nightmare was less earthy than Whatever People Say for example. What I don't think is unrealistic is for something to stand out or represent something they've done in the past, and fair enough this is clearly a "concept" album, it's a bit of a slap in the face to wait five years for something so meh. tl:dr, this album is meh and will be ranked as such; AM Whatever People Say Favourite Worst Nightmare Humbug Space Muzak Suck It and See I'd like to throw Who the f**k Are Arctic Monkeys? in between FWN and Humbug (see Despair in the Departure Lounge) but can't justify it.

Good summation really; I’d probably put TBH+C above Humbug and Favourite worst Nightmare but I can’t argue with your reasoning.
NotThePars
Humbug's their best album for me. Was the biggest indicator that they would be able to stand the test of time while a lot of their peers kept trying the same thing with diminishing returns. I'm into the new album and quite like the new video as well. Reminds me quite a bit of Father John Misty and I think him and Turner are similar in taking the piss with a persona.

This - by far and away their best album. Cornerstone and Crying Lightning are great songs but Dance Little Liar and the Jeweller's Hands are completely underrated.
southstand_bairn
The jewellers hand is a brilliant tune! Just gave it a 3rd listen and I must admit it has won me round. I’m all for bands going in different directions as there are tons of 3 album bands who you get sick of. This is the biggest change but no wonder considering the whole thing was written on Alex turners piano. There are no festival anthems but it’s still a pretty good album.
smpar
There are no festival anthems but it’s still a pretty good album. There are so many people who think that the two above statements can't be true at the same time.
