What is the point of Labour ?

The latest potential fence-sitting strategy belongs in an Ealing farce.

Essentially if Labour get elected they will negotiate a Leave deal, put it to a referendum but not campaign for it.

Utterly fucking nuts - and just to keep Len fucking McLuskey happy.

A GE will be dominated by Brexit.

The message from the SNP, the LibDems, Plaid and the Greens will be clear.  The message from the Brexit Party will be clear.

I think the Tories will have a fairly clear message by the date of a GE.

Labour’s position will still be all over the place leading to the real possibility of a hardline Tory/Brexit majority.

Then the real fun/devastation will begin.

Might  as well have Kenny Dalglish as labour leader instead of Jeremy Corbyn. Would still get the same result regarding his brexit policy. Mibbies Aye Mibbies Naw.

It looks like there is going to be an organised purge of right-wing dinosaur Labour MPs prior to the next election.  This is something long overdue.

Harman saying young mothers and pregnant MPs should be exempt from the reselection process.  If an MP no longer has the support of here PLP she should not be protected from scrutiny IMO.

Hoey is already not standing - going before she is deselected.

Labour’s latest position on Brexit is far from perfect but it’s a big step in the right direction.

It received unanimous support from Trade Unions, despite such unions having opposing positions.

It also received almost unanimous support at today’s Shadow Cabinet desipite, again very opposing views.

Appatently there was only one dissenter.

The deputy leader Tom Watson.

😂 Their position on Brexit is weak, lily-livered and a complete and utter embarrassment. They've had a century and a bit of being a serious political party but they're now an unlamented irrelevance.

Still don't know what their position is. For a referendum over a deal that doesn't exist, or a general election where they won't say what they would stand on, neither of which they have a plan for achieving. Or they could theoretically win a GE, negotiate a Brexit deal with Europe and then hold a referendum on it that they would campaign against? Utterly confused.

You seem easily confused.

Even if a labour government negotiated a deal with a customs union etc, they can still put it back to the people for comfirmation that they still want to Brexit.

It wouldn't be the first time a government called a referendum on their own plan and didn't back it. Cameron called 2 referendums on Brexit and on Alternate Vote and campaigned for the status quo both times.

Hardly going to stir the hearts of the voters that they have a plan to sort out this mess though, given that they've utterly failed to lead the opposition against a government who have been defeated on their primary legislation 3 times. And if you're going to take your political tradecraft from Cameron, there is really no hope.

What Brexit plan did Cameron have and fail to back?

They haven't committed to anything which would happen after a GE. All they have said is they reject No Deal and would demand any Tory deal is put to a referendum And they would back Remain in No Deal vs Remain referendum and a Tory Deal vs Remain referendum. Absolutely nothing new.

They are still fence-sitting wankers.

Boris could confidently call a GE safe in the knowledge he'll be able to win over a good wedge of 'Brexit party' supports.

Absolutely no chance Corbyn's Labour will the popular vote anytime soon.

I remember when May called her snap election and was going to get a 100+ majority...

Yet she remained in power and  had the hardline ERG and DUP pulling the strings. Corbyns star has faded since then. How many jaded festival goers are shouting oh Jeremy Jeremy Corbyn now?

Thousands of scouts are still singing it apparently.

Polls are almost entirely meaningless until an actual campaign starts, according to Nate silver.

Historically they generally have no bearing until you can get a sense of what is being offered, and look at trends from there.
