Not defending Labour here, but do you really think the SNP wouldn’t sell off Scotland to BlackRock ,or whoever was the highest bidder, if they had the chance?

Aye of course they would. I'm not a SNP member or voter though.

I'd also argue that Westminster doing it increases the liklihood of it happening much more up here too.

That's a simplistic argument to make, but it's a moot point as BlackRock wouldn't get out of bed to "buy" Scottish assets.

They only give a shiny shite about macro, UK level, assets that can give them an even bigger waterfall of cash than they already have.

Areas like the emerging renewables sector spring immediately to mind.

Let's see what these cuddly socialist Labour chaps do.........

I never said it had anything to do with Scottish government, but BlackRock clearly has and will buy Scottish assets.

And?

A Scottish based company bought Blackrocks corporate pensions business 10 years ago.

Companies buy and sell assets all the time.

That really wasn't the point of the Guardian article.

I’d rather a company like BlackRock wasn’t buying up Scotland.

Me too, frankly ! I'm not sure we are arguing on this point.

But the issue, as noted in the article, isn't to do with relatively minor areas like the airport, but massive future revenue streams in areas like renewable energies.

That's something where you can almost smell Labour hooking up with BlackRock and giving them huge incentives to skim off the top of our assets for decades to come.

Unfortunately, BlackRock is already buying up Scotlands renewable energy infrastructure. They bought the tormywheel wind farm in West Lothian in 2017 and were also involved with the SNPs awful scotwind project.

Pat McFadden on the radio -

"You Cant"

"Spend"

"The Same Money"

"Twice"

He deliberately put a gap in between these, treated the interviewer like a daftie................

Get another couple of holes punched in the belt folks, its looking like Labours "Change" agenda is simply -

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Actually... It's probably true an individual can't spend the same money twice but governments certainly can. Once the government spends it, as long as it's substantially spent in the UK, it goes into people's pockets - creating income tax, spending power, and once spent, then goes on through the economy generating VAT and further chunks of income tax.

The ‘multiplier effect’ is a basic economic concept.

ETA Keynesianism at its best; not an approach I’d expect the modern day Labour Party to adopt.
