The road to Hampden starts on Saturday, but with the preliminary set up has the sparkle went out this competition. Some attractive ties for Talbot and Beith though, hope fully both clubs can do Ayrshire proud.

Yes it certainly has for me.  5 games now before you have perhaps a chance of drawing a premiership team and it plays havoc with the rest of the season with games being postponed to accommodate these ties.  financially  it’s is obviously a money maker if you can win a few matches.  Would be good if Beith or Talbot or Shortlees could get a run of games that would raise the profile of the juniors like when Talbot played Hearts or Beith nearly beating Airdrie (not forgetting Irvine meadows run as well).  Seems they are trying to get us out before we are in the competition proper

The qualifying rounds are a drag but at least the bigger Junior sides have avoided each other. I don't think it all has to end up with a Premier league side to be a great experience for the fans but of course that's what everyone really wants.

A couple of matches against new opponents, maybe some cracking away ties with overnighters and taking a notable league scalp are all highly possible for the Junior sides.
