nsr
Anyone living and working in and around the Strathaven area has probably seen the signs for "L S Smellie and Sons" on the way out of town towards Hamilton/Motherwell. I think it's an agricultural auction house or something. I have been wondering (and my family has been arguing) for years whether it's pronounced "smelly" or "smiley". Does anyone know? There aren't any bets riding on this.

Zen Archer (Raconteur)
In Forfar there is a business called Gammies, there was an embarrassing stand off for a few minutes until I realised it was a farming shop.

Barry Ferguson's Hat
I'm from Strathaven and i'm not even that sure. I would go for 'smelly' because it's funnier.
