Radford
Anyone else watching this? Second season is drawing to a close on BBC Two (on FX in the US) but all the episodes are available on the iPlayer. Set in Los Angeles in 1983, a year ahead of the Olympics, as crack cocaine takes hold and tied in with the CIA-backed support for the Contras in Nicaragua. Bit of a Breaking Bad vibe with British actor Damson Idris as the antihero Franklin Saint. It's not perfect with some characters stronger than others and the storyline having a tendency in the first season of jumping forward leaving you wondering if you've missed something but some hard-hitting moments and an overall story that you don't know how is going to end.

The CIA guy I find really annoying. Had a break for Fortitude yesterday and will continue with 2nd series soon.
Radford
I struggled with the dialogue as well at times and actually resorted to subtitles!
jimmy boo
Sooo.....now watched series 1 of Southland and enjoyed that too [emoji106]I'm 99% certain that the house in episode 3 where the girl died of an 'accidental' tracheotomy was the same house as the opening scene in Snowfall where a CIA guy died of a drugs overdose. There's a lot of death in these shows! Watched first one of series 2 of Snowfall there and things are moving along nicely. ETA.......Finished Snowfall now and really enjoyed it although it maybe dragged slightly at times. Pleased to see it's been renewed for a 3rd series. Watched Freeway Rick Ross today on Netflix which is a documentary on the real guy who started the crack epidemic in LA and whom this series was obviously based. Was very interesting. Radford
Caught up with the third season over the past week or so. As the stakes continue to rise you become less confident that anyone gets out of this but that's what keeps you hooked, you are rooting for them all now.
Radford
Fourth season on the iPlayer and started on BBC Two again last night. Can't believe this doesn't have more of a following.
badgerthewitness
Just started S4. There were some great episodes towards the end of S3, the one where they went looking for Mel was magnificent TV (a strong Tarantino influence). Not sure how it will go with the drug war but happy to stick with it. Favourite character so far is Teddy/Reed by a considerable margin. Special mentions to Leon, Oso, Jerome and batshit Avi.
