Miguel Sanchez
Week 33 update Nothing doing this week, so I think it's time I put an idea I've had into practice. In weeks where there are no scorers I'm going to post about someone notable who did die that week, and teach us all about them. This week, Jose Luis Brown: https://thesefootballtimes.co/2019/04/10/yes-you-scored-a-goal-in-a-world-cup-final-the-unexpected-legend-of-jose-luis-brown/ First off, look at those eyebrows: Secondly, I can't recommend reading that feature enough. I don't want to pull out passages from it, but I'll give you the important bits. He was a descendant of James Brown, who moved to Argentina from Leith in 1825. He was injured and let go by his club at the end of the 1986 season. He played every minute of the 1986 World Cup and scored Argentina's first goal in the final. He died this week at 62, after suffering from Alzheimer's. I'm not sure of the maths, but it's nice to know that Scotland can claim about 1/1000th of a World Cup win. Maybe a bit more if you consider the influence of Alexander Watson Hutton. I hope you're all looking forward to learning about people in the coming weeks.
Miguel Sanchez
When I learn how to do this properly I'm going to keep stats and I'm going to find a disproportionate amount of deaths happening or being announced on a Monday.

Miguel Sanchez
Week 34 update One death this week, former Governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-49393188 The BBC obituary is quite short though, so if you want to have a read about how she was the first woman elected to her position and how she dealt with the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita hitting her state, try the Washington Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/obituaries/kathleen-blanco-la-governor-during-hurricane-katrina-dies-at-76/2019/08/18/fda5ba14-c1fe-11e9-b5e4-54aa56d5b7ce_story.html Blanco was picked by 8 players: @Arbroathlegend36-0, @Bishop Briggs, @chomp my root, @Indale Winton, @JamieStevenson, @Ned Nederlander, @Oooooft and @The DA.
