Butters Scotch Posted Sunday at 13:38 Share Posted Sunday at 13:38 Who does Gilmour replace in Napoli's midfield? Conte loves an athletic powerhouse such as a McTominay and Anguissa and Lobotka is such a good footballer, sort of similar to how Gilmour plays. I think it is gonna be tough for him to get starts unless there is an injury and I don't trust Conte to start him at all, really hope he isn't bench fodder all season

My concern would be more if/when Conte blows up and the new manager doesn’t see him in the same way. As you say, certainly tough competition for a starting spot in that area of the park. MJA73 Posted Sunday at 15:14 Share Posted Sunday at 15:14 Agree with the all of the above. He seemed really keen to go there though. Would you assume he was given some kind of game time assurances to make him so keen?
Chripper Posted Sunday at 17:55 Share Posted Sunday at 17:55 Looking at the Napoli central midfielders, they're all north of 20. I'd say that Gilmour is more of a long term investment and a way of refreshing the midfield.

Each of the three players mentioned were born in 1994/1995/1996, Lobotka the oldest who will be 30 in November so they'll likely be playing at peak level for next two years minimum and it's not as if Gilmour is a 20 year old just coming onto the scene. He's 23 so is in the prime of his life now and will be demanding to be a starter sooner rather than later after the season he has had at Brighton.

You think a Ballon d'Or winner is Croatia's Billy Gilmour? It's like calling Ryan Giggs Wales's Ben Doak. Why stop there, Shaggy. Why not just say that Franz Beckenbauer is German's Grant Hanley. Lolzzzz You're alright, Shaggy. "IMO" Edited 21 hours ago by Chripper -

Therefore, not getting any younger. 17 minutes ago, Binos said: Billy's decision making where he goes to play is questionable Which decisions? He's usually several steps ahead of the opposition which is why he's so press resistant. He's 23 and he was just behind Gross in regards to the Brighton player of the year. In Gilmour's farewell match for Brighton against Manchester United, he bossed the midfield, a midfielder of Bruno, Mainoo and Casemiro. Let's be clear here. I'm a Manchester United fan. If you question Gilmour's decision making then you'd have a million questions about the decision making of Bruno, Eriksen, Casemiro and on last night's evidence, Ugarte. Billy Gilmour may not be world class yet, but he's getting there. His ceiling is sky high. Edited 13 hours ago by Chripper
